Fever for 5 days

The whole family has been poorly - my DD is on penicillin for suspected but not confirmed scarlet fever. I've had a fever since Saturday. The lowest it's been is 38 with paracetamol. I've spoken to the midwife and a GP. Both seem to think it's viral and not particularly concerned, but my question is, how long would you leave the fever to run for? I'm exhausted working FT and have flu symptoms, 19 weeks pregnant.

Is there a reason you've not taken sick leave?

I took one day - I work from home but I'm a director at the business and already taken time off for HG, so felt if I can, I'll do whatever I can at home.

Not sure how recently you spoke to GP/midwife but imagine they both suggested rest, paracetamol and plenty of fluids inc. Hot drinks?

After 5 days I'd be going back to the doc but If you're not resting the fever will take longer to go.

If you end up with pneumonia that's no good for the business. Can you defer or delegate some of the work.

Well, you are absolutely correct! I wrote the post earlier in the week and went to the GP and I have a lower respiratory tract infection - I'm on AB now and if I don't improve I will absolutely be taking time off!

Jeez, take time off now.
