Anxiety at 12wks pg - how do I cope for next 28 wks?!?

I wonder if anyone can offer me some advice on how to stay happy/calm/positive... I am 12 wks pg after a mmc in Oct 2007 and June 2006 ( I am blessed with a DS who is 4.5). I have had a record 3 scans already as I've had 3 discharges/bleeds but this mornings scan showed a moving baby, heartbeat etc. My "proper" 12 wk scan is on 5th and I am starting to look forward to it. However, I still feel very anxious and I dont want to spend the next 28 wks being a grumpy old woman (well I am 40!) DH thinks I'm a bit mad (well did have clinical depression last summer but only took 11 pills and then found out I was pregnant) to ask midwife to check heartbeat but if it would help and she does do quite a few drop in sessions. What do you think? Keep busy? Yoga? Thanks x

Wow! Thank you all for your prompt replies. I will investigate/ read up next week. The natal hypnotheraphy sounds v interesting, doubt you can get it on NHS, but think DH would pay, anything to make me smile at the moment!
Have a peaceful weekend x

Don't think you can use the Bach Rescue Remedy in pregnancy, double check anyway. Speak to gp if anxiety turns into panick! Good luck.

Hi i had a mmc in August 07 and i am now 12 weeks pregnant. I also had three weeks of bleeding with this pregnancy which has increased my stress. I have spent alot of time talking to my midwife about my concerns and feel alot better now that i have passed 12 weeks. We have made an arrangement that she will listen to the babies heart beat on a regular basis. Other than that i am doing pilates and a friend is lending me a pregnancy hypnonatal relaxation cd which i am going to try and listen to at night. If you want you could join the August antenatal thread - there are a few of us that have had mmc's and we are all feeling a bit paranoid so you would be in good company!

Hi i am too 12 weeks, due a scan on weds. have experienced MC in the past. I cant help you with advice of how to relax beacuse i am the same as you!!!! The fact that weve reached this mark is reassuring and once i have had my scan (supposing e'thing is fine) i hope i will start to relax. The odds are in our favour at this point even thou im more than aware that things can still go wrong!!! We just have to think positive i guess and keep our fingers crossed. I have bought a fetal doppler to listen to the heartbeat (although im waiting until after 12 wk scan before really using it). Good luck x x

Had scan yesterday and all ok but this morning had a slight discharge but I think I need to accept that this might happen. Will speak to MW tomorrow when I pop in to get her to put the correct name on my blood tests! (Long story but "luckily"? taking mum to same hospital on Friday so can have them done then). Your positive replies spurred me on to order a dress from Mothers 2b (2nd hand mat website) which arrived today. Also after scan DH went up in the roof to get down my maternity clothes, which are now 5 years old and very dated!
Lcy - thanks for sharing, you are very brave, those 3 weeks must have been unbearable. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is peacefull & pleasantly uneventful xx
Kezza7779 - hope all went well for you today, have been thinking of you xx
