Hi all, just looking for some reassurance really..

Yesterday morning started with some heavy pink discharge and the GP receptionist brutally told me to go to A&E incase I was having a miscarriage.. Pic attached as I’d be curious to see if anyone else has had similar.. I’ve literally had it the one time after a wee.

Urine, BP, Bloods, Abdominal scan later I’m discharged and sent to EGU this morning for an internal scan.

The scan showed the pregnancy is in the right place, and looks okay so far, she could only tell me I’m “somewhere between 5-6 weeks” and wouldn’t say if what she saw was normal for that gestation.

There was a gestational sac and yolk sac but no embryo to be seen.

Im booked to go back in 2 weeks and she said they should definitely expect an embryo by then. Should I be worried or is this normal for so early?

At this stage it could go either way. I had one pregnancy where I had bleeding on and off until 14 weeks, and that pregnancy was all fine, and my second pregnancy I again had bleeding but ended in a miscarriage. I hope your next scan goes well.

I'm surprised you got told to go to A&E with no proper bleeding though as usually EPU can see you for this.

Totally agree - was hoping a quick call from the doctor an an early scan would suffice… spent 7 hours in A&E sobbing with my DH whilst we waited. Felt like eternity..

just got to hold on until the next scan 🤞🏻

Bless you OP. I can't tell you what's going on, but I can say that I had bright red bleeding at 6 weeks on and off until 12 weeks, no idea why, and my son is 4 now. Sending love.

Hope you're okay OP. I had this at 7 weeks and it just so happened that I had an early scan booked the day after because I wasn't sure on dates (I knew I was either 7 weeks or 11 weeks because of dodgy periods) and I worried I'd miss my 12 week scan. All was fine!

I am very much of the thinking that there is not much you can do at this point - miscarriages are usually caused by faulty chromosomes and we can't change anything.

Most likely everything will be absolutely fine, try to wait it out for the two weeks and look after yourself.
