No bump/body change 15 wks - MMC??

Hi everyone,

I think I have posted about this before but I’ve not made a thread about it. I’m currently 15+2 and I’m so worried about MMC as i feel like my body has not changed at all? I’ve also tried finding my uterus using various methods online and I can’t find it, nothing has hardened, I just don’t feel like anything is different.
I’m only 5’3 - 5’4 and I have a short torso and longer legs so you’d think I’d be seeing or feeling something by now?! I’m also a healthy BMI. I’ve also weirdly always had a little bit of a ‘bump’ on my belly that looks like a uterus bump but it’s just my flabby belly and feels the same as it always does I think
I have been getting sharp pains which I read are growing pains. Also sort of unrelated but I’ve had sore boobs this entire pregnancy and nothing has got any bigger! I have gained about 4lbs though

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I was like this with DS - no bump and no weight gain for a long time - I was still in my non-stretch jeans at 20 weeks and didn't "pop" until gone 30 weeks. I'm 5'4 and was 9st 8 when I got pregnant.

Doctor says it's genes - some people just never get very big, my DM was the same. I wouldn't worry about it.

I don’t think I had any visible signs at that stage with my first pregnancy either. I’m assuming you had a scan around 12 weeks that showed all was well? Miscarriage beyond this point is not common (generally >2%) but so get checked if you’re really worried.

doingitalllagain · 06/12/2022 14:47

Other end of spectrum, I had a MMC where baby had died at 12+2 but it was only discovered at 17+5, I had a growing bump (baby had passed but both my uterus and placenta continued to grow), I had huge sore boobs, really bad sickness, textbook pregnancy symptoms. My sickness started to ease as I hit 17 weeks, my body had finally started to realise and bleeding started at 17+5. So a MMC doesn't necessarily mean that your body wouldn't change and your symptoms would stop.

I hope everything is ok, it doesn't sound concerning to me, some people take a longer time to show and not everyone's boobs grow in the first trimester. X

If you are in UK you will have a midwife appt soon and can ask then. I'm 16+4 and no bump and had a scan at 16 wks and all well. Especially if first pregnancy don't expect a bump until 20wk

@allfurcoatnoknickers that’s actually my exact pre-pregnancy weight and height. My mum was also the same with not showing but we are far from having the same body type - I’m short with a short torso, she’s 5’6 with a long torso. She’s a bit heavier but has a flat tummy and I have a small frame but a pot belly (all this time hating my pot belly and now I don’t think it’s big enough 😂)

@AnnieApple123 yes I had a scan at 12+5 and everything was fine but I did have bleeding early on. I’ve not had any since before my scan

@doingitalllagain i’m so sorry to hear that, this is what I’m afraid of as I have also had a MMC before but it was very early on hence being extremely paranoid.

I’ve already had 4 scans in this pregnancy (2 private) which is a ridiculous amount really and I’m trying not to drive myself mad but it’s really hard 😩 I’ve been looking at last minute scans but managing to talk myself out of it. They are quite cheap in my area but not cheap enough to justify it. I already have a scan booked on Sunday!

It’s weird because I bloat really easily - I never in a million years thought this was something I’d worry about. I swear I come up with a new worry every week. Last week it was my blood test results and they came back perfect so of course my anxious brain decides to obsess over something new 🙄 I’m hoping it’s just anxiety anyway and not a gut instinct

Urgh I remember this fear, I didn't get any kind of bump til way past 20 weeks. Some midwives still offer a dopler listen to the heartbeat around 16 weeks, but this can also be hard to find and cause even more worry! I used to do the miscarriage reassurance calculator every day to try and remain rational, it's tough

20viona · 06/12/2022 15:09

Honestly i have had 2 babies and I didn't get a bump with either until about 25 weeks, put it this way, the day I went on Mat leave some colleagues didn't even know i was pregnant. Some people just don't get a big belly. I loved it, meant I left the hospital in my normal clothes but I imagine if your already anxious then it's a struggle. Just say to yourself today you are pregnant. Don't think what ifs you'll ruin it for yourself. Enjoy.

mumonthehill · 06/12/2022 15:14

When I had my second dc I did not need maternity jeans until I was 6 month’s pregnant! I hope all will be ok for you, do not over worry. You do want all the changes and it is quite scary when you do not get them.

Coconutcream123 · 06/12/2022 15:18

My first I didnt show at all until 6 months. Try not to worry.

Margo34 · 06/12/2022 15:21

21w, 2nd baby and still fit my usual trousers. 🤷 Still lots of colleagues that don't know, too. Definitely pregnant though, a right wriggler in there keeps kicking me!

Idrinkandiknowthings1 · 06/12/2022 15:22

I’m 19+2 now with baby #2 and honestly I don’t have a bump either, I can still wear most of my pre pregnancy clothes, I just don’t think I make big babies! My DD is a little dot and I’m pretty much expecting the same this time. I was the same as you last time though due to previous MC, it’s still early to show! Try not to worry, I’m sure everything is absolutely fine xx

allfurcoatnoknickers · 06/12/2022 15:45

@Veryxonfused I'm 19 weeks now with #2 and just had to stop wearing my jeans, but the rest of my clothes still fit - I just look a bit bloated. Baby is kicking away though and I can feel her over my pubic bone, so she's definitely growing.

I think it's a bit of a taboo to say it, but some people just don't gain a ton of weight and don't get a big bump. DS was 7.5lbs when he came out at 39+4 but I still had to have several extra scans because my fundal height was so behind, despite him being on the 50th centile event time they checked!

tfh · 07/12/2022 19:50

I didn't show or need maternity clothes until 20 weeks and also felt sooo anxious about it especially as I couldn't feel any movement at that point. Don't worry, bump will pop out and you will feel wriggles soon enough which will reassure you :)
