14dpo, pregnant, cramps - is this normal?

Hi Everyone. I am currently 14dpo. I was so pleased to get a positive pregnancy test yesterday. I have completed 3 tests now and all positive. I can’t help but worry, and wanted to see if anyone else is getting similar symptoms to me. For the last 3 days I feel:

  • constantly bloated
  • dull consistent ache, similar to period pain but not cramping
  • like I need a poop, but I am still regular with that!
  • so hungry. No matter what I eat I don’t feel full!
  • tender breasts to touch

I am worried about the dull AF like pain to be honest. I thought she was coming any day but took a test as the pain was paired with the other symptoms above that made me think I could be pregnant. My periods are irregular so I don’t know when she would have been due. My last one started 3rd Nov.

would be interested to hear your symptoms and how far along you are now!

thanks all x

The two times I’ve ended up with a bfp I had a short time (about 30+ minutes) of AF like cramps on about 12dpo. Didn’t test until 14dpo or later though. The first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage weeks later, the second pregnancy im now at 18 weeks.

Hey @Lalalul,
This is completely normal and discussed on a number of threads.
I had cramps 2 days before I was due on till about 2 weeks after I was due on.
I had a scan last week at 11+1 and so far so good 🤞🏻

Lalalul · 05/12/2022 16:42

Thank you @firsttimelondonmummy - really appreciate it! The pains have been consistent and getting progressively worse - worse than how my period paints usually feel. Just a bit worried given it’s still so early. Reassuring to hear from
others with similar symptoms.

Congrats to you on your 11 week scan! A the best

@Lalalul I had awful cramps at the beginning, I'm now 8 weeks and had an early scan which looked good so I think it was just normal cramping, all your symptoms sound normal

thelma57 · 05/12/2022 16:47

Hey @Lalalul first off congratulations!
I had mild cramps on and off for the first couple
of weeks, I’m now 8 weeks and had a scan at 6+4 showing all good and a wee heartbeat 💕

Its such a worrying time but try to take one day at a time X

Lalalul · 05/12/2022 16:56

@MillieKitty this is reassuring, thank you. Congratulations to you!

I had period like cramping pretty consistently for the first couple of weeks (enough to be using hot water bottles etc) and then on and off for a couple of weeks after. It's very common so please don't worry about it unless the pain is sharp, severe or one sided, or if you are also bleeding

Lalalul · 05/12/2022 19:22

@NalaNana Thank you for sharing this! This is reassuring. I’m terrible for googling and convincing myself of the worst. Hot water bottle is helping. Pain isn’t sharp or severe, it’s just constant and worse than my period pains (I’m quite lucky with those though).

@thelma57 thank you! Awww that must have been an amazing sound. I am so tempted to book a 6 week scan!! Congrats to you too

@Lalalul i would advise waiting till 7 weeks.
We booked 6 weeks and a day or so and couldn’t see a heartbeat.
It really upset us and stressed us out and it was all for nothing as at 7+5 9+3 and 11+1 everything looked fine.

Lalalul · 06/12/2022 18:15

@firsttimelondonmummy ahh thank you! I can imagine that felt awful at the time :( and the week or so waiting for the next one must have been tough! I guess you also don’t know for sure how many weeks you are until the scan.. so whilst I think I am 4+6 I know I ovulated later than the average, which could impact a 6 week scan!

I had a "6 week" scan to check placement due to a previous ectopic. I measured 5+5 and all we saw was the yolk sack and gestational sack which was enough to let us know it wasn't ectopic so we were happy with that. The midwife said that days make a huge difference at that time, and if we'd have been a few days later we may well have seen a heartbeat.

Unless your worried about placement I'd wait until 7 at the least! X

Lalalul · 06/12/2022 19:28

@NalaNana ah sorry to hear you had an ectopic. Pleased that the 6 week scan gave you some relief and all was looking well! This is my first and I worry about everything (I think the internet rabbit hole does not help!), so more want one to reassure myself it is real! And so we can tell a few people before Christmas :)
