This has probably been done so many times but I can't find anything.

Anyone had a growth scan at 36 weeks. How wrong was the predicted scan weights to actual birth weight?

Thank you.

have had them with previous two pgs.

DS! predicted 7lb - was 6lb 11oz

ds2 - predicted 8lb - was 8lb 1oz

so very accurate with me. Are you ok?

samsmam · 01/02/2008 09:48

hmmm, 7lb 5oz at 36 week scan yesterday! aren't they meant to put on 0.5lb every week from now?

yes but is that what your baby weighs now or for when he is born?

scorpio1 · 01/02/2008 09:49

and a 9lb baby is quite normal nowadays

samsmam · 01/02/2008 09:51

thats the weight now. but they say it can be 25% +/- on my notes! DD1 was 8lb 12oz.

DS1 was predicted to be 6lb 8oz by growth scan when delivered at 37 weeks, he came out at 4lb 10oz. So almost 2lbs out here.

i had one which predicted 9lb at full term. gave birth 4 days over and she was 8lb 9oz

goingfor3 · 01/02/2008 10:56

I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and they predicted dd1's head circumference to be that of a 42 weeker, she was born at 38 weeks with her head on the 25th centile so very inaccurate!

Jaysthird · 01/02/2008 21:08

DD growth scan @ 36 weeks showed a birth weight of 9lbs - weighed in 9.5lbs

DS growth scan @ 36 weeks showed birth weight of 10lbs+ weighed in 11.2lbs

Just had growth scan for DB CURRENTLY showing 9.2lbs so estimated birthweight over 11lbs again....

So far they have been pretty accurate for me!

lizziemun · 01/02/2008 21:17

I a scan at 40wks (baby went quite) was told would be no more then 8lbs. Had dd2 a week later she was 9lb 2oz.

Sarahjct · 02/02/2008 08:52

Had growth scan at 38 weeks and was estimated weight of 8Ib 3oz. DD was born at 40 weeks weighing 8Ib 10.5oz so it was probably pretty accurate. Still can't see any evidence of DD's 'big tummy' though...

PortAndLemon · 02/02/2008 09:17

DS predicted 10lb 8oz actually 10lb 5.3oz (2 days early).

hannahjb · 02/02/2008 13:45

Hi - how do you get a growth scan, is it just a case of asking for one, and if so, who do we ask? My DS was 10lb 6oz so would quite like to know rough guess of size for 2nd (28 weeks) just so we can be prepared! Thanks

Diege · 02/02/2008 13:58

DD1 predicted 5 pounds at term, born 7 pounds 6 ozs a week early.
Hannah, no don't think you can just ask; usually done if previous baby big/scan concerns/midwife fundal measurement etc.

neolara · 02/02/2008 19:01

Can't remember exact figures but they predicted DS would be huge. He weighed in at 8lb 9oz when he was born at exactly 37 weeks, so they were pretty accurate.

PortAndLemon · 03/02/2008 22:37

Hannah -- you'd normally get a growth scan if a previou sbaby has been unusually big or small, or if you are measuring unusually big or small this time, or if you have gestational diabetes.
