Hi there,

Hoping for some advice.

I had a section 2 weeks ago and last night the scar has opened very slightly on one side. Doesnt look infected and not painful- my plan is to call the gp first thing in the morning as it’s Sunday today - has anyone had this/ is this a reasonable response?

thanks very much!

Go to the hospital. Today.

You need it stitched back up and probably antibiotics.

SunshineAndFizz · 04/12/2022 09:20

At least call 111.

Sorry to hear that, must be quite scary sight. In your situation I think I would have rung triage at the hospital since it's within four weeks- I suspect that is what the GP will say too as triage are specialists in post birth issues. Hope you feel ok otherwise and that it heals up soon. Congrats on your new baby.

Thanks very much both - calling the triage now x

Great news. Failing that, phone the Maternity Assessment Unit at the hospital you gave birth at. You'd still be under their care for 6 weeks after birth and usually they'll see you straight away.

This happened to me but I did end up on antibiotics - twice! But got these mepliex border lite dressings from the walk in center and later Amazon and they aid healing while it knitted back up. Lesson learnt about doing too much too soon after a C-section though! Hope you are feeling okay!

Newmumtobetwentytwentytwo · 05/12/2022 19:57

Thanks- good tip on the dressing and yes - def a lesson for me about overdoing it! X
