Hand hold - TTC, 2 miscarriages and hypothyroidism

Looking for a handhold this afternoon... :-(

We started TTC our first in April last year. Both of us are 33. Fell pregnant quickly, but miscarried at 5 weeks in May. Fell pregnant again in August, saw a heartbeat at 8w then miscarried again. I pushed for blood tests through GP which found a slightly underactive thryoid (TSH 4.99 and T4 9.5). Started thyroxine 2 weeks ago. Was hoping we'd have caught this month but haven't and I'm just gutted.

I'm so scared we'll never be able to have a baby of our own and I can't bear hearing of people announcing their pregnancies or having 2nd babies.

I'd love any stories of happy endings, hope etc to keep me going. The world feels so dark and gloomy right now. X

Hiya, not sure I quite qualify as a happy ending yet but had a MMC at 12 weeks last Dec and did some private tests - my TSH was 8! Begged to be put on thyroxine and got pregnant again in sept, now 15 weeks. I have PCOS too and 35 now so that's probably why it took me a while longer.

I'm so sorry for your losses. It's great you know now about thyroid and have taken steps to fix it - my TSH was around 3 when I conceived this time round so it doesn't have to be the 1-2.5 they suggest for fertility. Wishing you all the luck in the world x

Have they said when you’ll have a retest @Laro2323? We had 3 early miscarriages after DC1 and ended up going for IVF (for other medical reasons) and during my pre-IVF tests my TSH was found to be about 3.2 I think. I was put on thyroxine as they wouldn’t start treatment until it was below 2.5 (which they say is optimal) and it took I think about 6-8 weeks to get to that.

The happy ending was that our subsequent IVF was successful and DC2 was born 9 months later.

Incidentally after they were born I stopped the Levothyroxine and my levels shot up and I was subsequently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and will be on Levo for life.

Hello, sorry to hear you're having a tough time.

Again, not sure mine qualifies as a happy ending yet but... my thyroid has been up and down for around 18 months. I had a MMC back in June and really pushed for my thyroid to get sorted.

Fast forward to now, just over 6 weeks pregnant. At my latest bloods my TSH was 1 (down from around 5) and my T4 was 19.

I guess my point is that things will improve with your thyroid in time and it's definitely possible to conceive even when things aren't optimal. Best of luck OP.
