TWINS?! PLEASE

Hi all,
I had a scan last week at 5 weeks but it was too early to see anything.
Rescan today at 6 weeks and a sac and fetal pole was seen.

They also found a second yolk sac (small) that had developed but no fetal pole.. could it be a twin? The doctor did mention this as a possibility but she said it was too soon to be sure either way.

I know one twin can sometimes measure behind I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience?

Thank you!

Hi!
I had a scan at 8 weeks & it was very very obviously twins.
Cant speak for a 6 week scan but maybe book one for 8 weeks?

I have twins and at 6 weeks it was very clear there were 2 and both had heartbeats but mine are non identical- it's possible if yours are identical they are just a bit slower so the other one might catch up

Same as the other posts- I had an early scan where I was dated as 6+5 (I thought I was 8 weeks) and both foetuses/heartbeats were clearly visible! I'd try another scan in 2 weeks x

My twins were obviously twins at 8w. Another twin mum friend was convinced she was having twins but only one baby at 6w scan. 12w scan there they both were.

Many pregnancies start as twins but don't end as twins.

Hi thank you for your replies.

What I am confused about is that a week before there was nothing to see. One week later two sacs and one with a fetal pole.

Part of me thinks that it is possible it could be twins and one is developing slower. Twins do run in my family. I do also believe that maybe it’s a bit of wishful thinking on my part? As it sounds more like vanishing twin syndrome

Fraternal twins can run in the family, but not identical.

I've had this with my last two pregnancies and it was "vanishing twin syndrome", it's really common and if you hadn't had an early scan you'd likely never have known.
