Flo app being inaccurate?

So we started TTC as of last month. I downloaded the much rexcomended flo app. It predicted my ovulation...and I went with it. I then tested for ovulation and flo was completely wrong so my chance that month was hindered. Probably my fault for being naive. This month flo has now given me an 11 day fertile window starting 2 days after my period which is ridiculous. They are normally 4-6days. Has anyone else had this? I'm thinking of sticking with ovulation testing rather than tracking. It's more expensive but more reliable as flo is really getting it wrong 😭

Flo is just using an average cycle prediction they think you ovulate 14 days before your period, when in reality your luteal phase can be anything from 7-14 days. I didn’t ovulate until day 20/21 and then 24/25 when I got pregnant, I did do some temperature tracking though using natural cycles. Cervical mucus is a good way to tracking too.
Or have sex every other day - you should be covered then!

The apps take a few cycles to learn your pattern.

It takes a few cycles to get to know your pattern, it can’t know straight away as it has no data

I downloaded flo too a couple of days ago, but I input my periods from January onwards in the hope that it may provide some more accuracy. Its saying I'm pretty much fertile from two days after my period is due to end up two days after I'm due to ovulate (which it has predicted is day 11 of my cycle based on me having c.25 day cycle). I'm worried that with ovulation tests it's going to stress my body too much obsessing so I feel more at ease knowing that if we try every couple of days throughout the days highlighted before and after ovulation that we may have a chance.

Flo definitely takes a while to get your data right. I’ve used it on and off for YEARS but it did pretty well at predicting my ovulation give or take a day - actually found it more reliable than using OPK strips which I found quite hit and miss! Look for bodily signs such as twinges on one side or egg white cervical mucus around the day Flo predicts and see if it lines up.

The same things keeps happening to me with the Flo app . It’s not really reliable when it comes to ur ovulation times. I rely on my tests and my apple health app is always spot on . I highly recommend that . For Flo .. it seems to be overhyped for how much it is and what it really does .
Good luck with the baby don’t give up .

@Nadineh89 I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant :)

I use the Flo app. I’ve been tracking my cycle since my period returned 10 weeks pp (I have a 9 month old son).
It claims that I ovulated on the 11th of this month. I had ovulation pain and a higher LH (not a peak though) on this date. Didn’t get a chance to dtd until the 13th.
Am I in with a chance or should I just count myself out this cycle? Any insight would be appreciated!

emmatcc1 · 17/01/2024 13:33

@Nadineh89 @Cols124 any period tracking app not just flo will predict ovulation 2 week before your period usually starts. It’s an app it can not tell you when you will really ovulate so you have to use a different method such as opks.

glasshalffull0 · 17/01/2024 14:02

@Cols124 its better to just use the ovulation sticks and use flo as a guide to start DTD regularly. It also can be really inaccurate if you have irregular cycles- which is what happened to me, it was 12 days out!

Cols124 · 17/01/2024 18:09

I was using ovulation sticks but never got a peak just a higher reading. This was on the afternoon of the 11th where I also had ovulation cramps. I dtd on the afternoon of the 13th.
I've never had a positive LH test even when I was tracking when I conceived my son. I’m guessing my levels are naturally lower!
I'm so confused if I’m in with a chance this month or not.
