So I’m 18 and 6 atm and have started noticing these small twitching feelings in my stomach. I’ve had my 12 week scan and there was no mention of an anterior placenta so I’m assuming I don’t have one so I was starting to worry about not feeling movements? It’s my first pregnancy so don’t really know what I’m looking out for and just filled with anxiety over whether or not everything is ok. The feeling is only slight and it’s not every day so I don’t know if it’s just a twitch but just wondering if anyone else felt this kind of sensation at all?

Twitching is a good way to describe early movements. You won't feel them all the time or in the same place as baby has plenty of space to move but there is a good chance what you're feeling is baby moving

TeddyBeans · 30/11/2022 21:05

If it is baby, the feeling will be below your belly button at the moment. Something else to consider

I always described early movements with my DS like a flick (someone flicking me with their finger) deep inside. Everyone describes it slightly differently but a twitch definitely sounds like it! Exciting!

Did you check your paperwork after the scan? I have an anterior placenta but they didn’t actually tell me, but it was on the paperwork. I wouldn’t know I have one if I hadn’t seen it on the paperwork.

Hi everyone thanks for the replies!

@TeddyBeans I do think they have been above the belly button atm so I’m assuming it’s something else!

@OrcaBlondie yeah checked the notes and nothing on there so I’m assuming I don’t have one!

it’s so overwhelming being excited but also so anxious at the same time. I have my 20 week scan later next week so guess I’ll just have to wait and see! Fingers crossed all’s fine and I’m just a bit later to feel anything 🤞🏻

Worth saying it's normal to not feel movement up to even 24wks, esp if first pregnancy. But does sound like movements

OrcaBlondie · 01/12/2022 06:21

Sounds like movement to me too 😊 I didn’t feel anything that was obvious baby movements until 25 weeks (anterior placenta and first baby).

just to add - anterior placenta is still classed as ‘normal’ so they wouldn’t put it on your notes as something out of the ordinary. Do your notes not say anything about your placenta? Should say the position of it somewhere.

Usually below button befor 20weeks mine never sed anything about anterior placenta at 13 weeks scan
but deffo is and confimed on my 20 week scan
But i got kicks at the side from 19 weeks though
only at 21 weeks have a got kicks around belly button now but all mainly below
the rest is wind usually.
