I'm 16 weeks pregnant this has been going on for a couple of weeks, if I have no where to spit out the saliva I have to swallow it sometimes I end up swallowing so much that when I vomit it's just pure saliva, I can no longer drink water because it reminds me of saliva and makes me want to to vomit so ive been drinking more sugary drinks like capri sun, I cant drink orange squash or anything like that because I have to make it up with water and when I see the water going in It makes Me gag and I can't drink it, I also can't drink clear drinks because they remind me of water so whatever i drink has to be coloured I googled it and its supposed to be normal for pregnancy but it's driving me out of my mind has anyone else experienced this? Before i loved water and would make a habit of drinking 1-2 of those 1.5 litre bottles of water a day now my lips feel dry and crisp because I don't want to drink water and I also don't want to drink too much sugary drinks, I am now buying sugar free but I still don't want to drink too much because I know its not healthy for my baby, I think I am dehydrated because I'm getting headaches and my lips are always dry and cracking now!

Have you got acid reflux symptoms? Could be something called wash.

Water brash I mean.

@Usethesausageasabreakwater yes I do but not every day probably 5 days out if the week I have acid reflux, when I called the Dr about the acid the only thing they could prescribe isn't recommend for pregnancy as the gaviscon and rennies werent working he told me if I could go without taking it I should, so after thinking on it I didn't even go to pick up the prescription because I don't want to put my baby at risk in anyway

Acid can sometimes cause it but can’t say for sure.

Hi @Spockrates . I'm in my first trimester but experience this. I'm prone to acid reflux anyway and got it really bad this week, with loads of saliva etc, constantly swallowing etc. There are safe options of medication for pregnancy. I was prescribed some yesterday as it was so bad and Gaviscon Advance wasn't even working. You can't take Nexium but ask your GP to prescribe Omeprazole which is completely safe in pregnancy. My sister also used it through her x3 pregnancies with no problems. It's really horrible and no point in suffering.
