I was told after I had my last baby that i could have more children but that I would be high risk, Could anyone having or had a high risk pregnancy tell me how is prenatal care different? Do I have extra scans or extra midwife appointments? Currently only 5 weeks just wondering what’s ahead x

It will depend on the reason for it being classed as high risk. I am high risk due to high BMI and PCOS. I am ‘consultant led’ but at 31 weeks I have had a 2 minute telephone appointment with the consultant and no other contact. I am booked to see them on 29th Dec as I’d like to request a water birth. I see a midwife as normal, have growth scans every 3/4 weeks and had the 2 hour glucose test at 28 weeks.

if you can share your reason for being classed as high risk it might help get a more accurate answer (although all trusts are different so still might vary). Your midwife should explain at your booking appointment.

@OrcaBlondie thanks for your reply, they said I have a condition that makes me have smaller than normal babies, my last baby was born in 3 percentile. Im not overly concerned because I have two children and although they where small at birth they’re both healthy, just wondering how this pregnancy will be treated differently x

I would imagine similar to me - consultant led and regular growth scans. I’d imagine you’ll see a consultant more regular than I have. Hopefully your midwife will give you more details at your booking appointment. Some people find it really reassuring to have more people involved in their care so none of it is a bad thing.

Hope your pregnancy goes well ☺️
