Hi

Recently I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and have changed my diet. Although, prior I didn't have a bad diet and baby was growing well.

I now had a growth scan, which showed that baby is measuring smaller specifically in one aspect the stomach.

Now I'm obviously worried and panicking as everything went well before. Has anyone else been in this situation???

I'd like to get a second opinion also because the sonographer was junior and didn't seem quite confident in measuring. I just don't understand that this happened straight after changing my diet and being diagnosed with GD.

Any advise would be appreciated.

This is a sign of IUGR, smaller stomach means they aren’t getting as much nutrients however normally with gestational diabetes they are getting too many nutrients and have a larger stomach.

Have they booked you back in for another scan? I am assuming they will due to the diabetes. They won’t make any calls off one scan, you will need to have 2/3 scans to see a pattern.

Try not to worry this might be your babies normal (tall and slim) but if your still worried about flag to your midwife too for another opinion.
