Nipple tweaking bring on labour?

So I’m nearly 40wks with second baby, first came at 37wks..
so feeling inpatient, had contractions on and off for a few weeks which is very annoying

anyone tried nipple tweaking and it worked?

In the same boat and no idea if it does. Got my pump out yesterday did 5 mins and figured it's not worth the pain. I've been expecting mine since 37 weeks too. Due Monday! When are you due?

Italianwife84 · 26/11/2022 07:24

Due Tuesday 29th…..
Feel mad that I’m getting them
on and off, as didn’t experience this with my first. Had a few bad contractions last night but then nothing! Really don’t want a sweep or induction want the birth to be natural but getting very inpatient 🤪

Ahh I have a sweep booked for Tuesday as I really want a natural birth too and the idea of induction doesn't appeal to me. My first labour started spontaneously at 39+5 which would be today, but this one they thought would be a preemie and prepped me since 37 weeks. Gosh I've been so on edge for weeks for nothing! I've also had weeks of mucus plus dislodging in tiny bits so that's been messing with my head, and now back to nothing again.

Worked for me! Kind of. Made my waters break but labour didn’t ever start.

I think the nipple tweaking is meant to stimulate oxytocin and uterine contractions. Orgasms do the same!
You can save your fingers and use a vibrating device on your nips, too... Just make sure the vicar doesn't pop round unexpectedly.

I don't believe in any old wives tales and do know the baby comes when it is ready! But will give this a try... I do baby yoga daily and lots of walking so this won't hurt... little tweaking never hurt anybody😅

Not sure if it works but I did it out of desperation at 40+2 to avoid induction and my waters broke 30 minutes later, DC2 born 5 hrs after that. Not for long, didn't really know what I was supposed to be doing either. It can't hurt to try!

But it didn't work if labour didn't start?

It will stimulate contractions but if your cervix is not ripe and ready it might just result in stop start labour which can be annoying. If it's your first baby you may not well be ready at 40 weeks.

I'm due tomorrow......
Did some nipple simulation, 100% brought on contractions but nothing else, had pain on and off them nothing... :-(

Yes it worked with my daughter. My contractions started that night and I had her the next day(waters also broke that night).

Italianwife84 · 28/11/2022 15:37

Oh wow did they! I might try again tonight as tomorrow is my guess date 😮❤️

A super relaxing massage brought my Labour on. The oxytocin thing again I assume.
