Is it possible that I have the flu? How would I know?

I've felt absolutely atrocious these past few days, bed bound and coughing all day. My chest is burning, my throat is burning, I have aches and pains and my ribs hurt from coughing so much.

I got a GP appointment yesterday and have been prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection, which I'm taking.

I was also vaccinated against the flu on 20 October, but apparently you can still get it?

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and just so worried about what I might be unwell with and how it might be affecting the baby.

If you see a £20 note on the floor and feel too ill to pick it up, you probably have flu. If you would pick it up it's probably just a bad cold.

Honestly, you can feel like absolute hell and the baby will be fine. I am currently in hospital with a UTI that didn’t go away with first round of antibiotics and baby is happy out and I am miserable. They just take what they need from you when they need it. Just make sure your not getting dehydrated.
It could be flu but there is loads of viruses going around right now.

I feel for you I have covid I am 18 weeks and fully vaccinated I got my 4th jab 3 weeks ago so glad I did as I don't feel that bad

I had flu when pregnant with first dc, about same along as you. That poorly I'd have left 500 quid on the floor I felt that bad, but dc is 16 now and absolutely fine and the pregnant was fine too.

I'm really struggling with water, my lips are dry as heck and my nose is streaming nonstop, I'm not even sure where all this moisture is coming from 😬

Oh I'm glad you're ok! I had my Covid jab on Saturday, tested negative yesterday thankfully as I was worried it could be covid.
