Cbd oil in labour

Hello! Wondering if anyone has experience of using cbd oil for remaining calm through early stages of labour? I've used the drops that go under your tongue in the past (pre-pregnancy) for dealing with anxiety and as a rescue remedy in stressful situations and found it's really worked. I haven't used it since getting pregnant but think it would be helpful for staying relaxed when labouring at home.

women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised against using it.

Not during pregnancy, but what about during labour?

you’re also advised against any anaesthesia (tooth work etc) during pregnancy but you get epidural during labour.

@ChloeO88 have you discussed this with your midwife? I’d consider taking this too if it helps me not get an epidural, if safe.

Yes I would not use during pregnancy as there's not enough research about it, but in labour, when you're potentially being pumped with all manner of drugs including opioids which can pass through the placenta, it surely couldn't cause negative effects by this stage. My midwife said she wouldn't advise against it but couldn't advise to use it as she's not trained in aromatherapy.

I’d ask another professional for a second opinion because it sounds like your midwife doesn’t understand what it is.
If they do have to give you anything for pain relief or anaesthesia, they won’t want you having anything that could interact with it.
You might not need anything though. I had no drugs at all in labour.
