12 week scan tomorrow, so terrified. Can anyone offer some words of wisdom?

It's my 12 week scan tomorrow, I'm so anxious I don't know what to do with myself. I had booked a private scan at 7 weeks and they detected the heartbeat, and I've had no symptoms which would suggest anything sinister. I'm just so so so paranoid about a MMC. Did anyone else feel this scared? I already have one DC and never had any of these fears, and also had a very smooth pregnancy!

Absolutely terrified. The more we talk about it the more common we realise it is. It’s great that we talk about these things so openly but I think increased anxiety is unfortunately the downside. I don’t have any words of wisdom but I shall keep everything crossed for you. It’s not a bad idea to find some calming techniques for anxious moments. There’s a good set of shows on Netflix from Headspace which may help.

@ReeseWitherfork your comment might be just what I needed this evening, my first chuckle of the day - and it was at your name!

Although forums such as mumsnet are a true blessing for support, I wouldn't have even know about MMC if I wasn't constantly forum reading.

I feel totally sick. I have no idea how I'm going to sleep tonight or get through tomorrow morning.

We’re TTC our second and I felt exactly like that before my 12 week scan last time. I didn’t look or feel pregnant at all and I remember sort of telling myself (even after an early scan) that there basically was no baby in there so that I could only be pleasantly surprised if anything. As soon as the ultrasound touched my stomach I saw a baby on the screen! I really didn’t expect it. I know miscarriage and MMC can happen but I think on here especially, this is a place for people to share these things and maybe even share things they don’t in real life so it’s full of the negative stories sometimes. The odds are actually very much in your favour, especially since you have no reason to worry. Try to relax, if need be go with my theory and you’ll get a nice surprise 🙈 good luck, let us know how it goes x

Statistically you are much more likely to have a healthy baby than a MMC.

If that's not the outcome then, as multiple women on here can attest, life will go on.

I felt the same but had my 12w scan today and all was fine.

I've had basically zero symptoms.

You'll be fine, good luck!!

Symptoms don't mean a thing. My pregnancy with the most common symptoms was my unsuccessful one. The two successful ones, no/next to no 12 week symptoms.
