Hello! I'm currently 5 weeks and taking daily folic acid and vitamin D supplements. Any recommendations in addition to this until I have my first midwife app in 4 weeks? I've heard mixed info about Pregnacare. Thanks ☺️

That's all you truly need! Good job taking that already

If you can, take methylfolate instead of folic acid as it is better absorbed by most people. Pregnacare (as other high street brands) has lots of fillers in it and many women report feeling extra sick with them so I'd stay clear. If money is tight, better to get a simple folate and a vitamin D supplement (I got mine from Boots in my first pregnancy). If you can afford it, taking extra ones can be beneficial (for example choline). I take Biocare now, which is really great in terms of ingredients but also quite expensive.

I just take folic acid and vitamin d from home bargains.

Had to get b6 from Amazon to help nausea.

I second taking methylfolate instead of folic acid. It’s better and easily absorbed and some women can’t absorb much or anything off the folic acid. I’ve done a genetic test and this is my case and I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

both pregnancies I’ve taken pregnacare max bc it has folate not folic acid and also bc it has fish oil. It’s not recommended to take regular fish oil supplements unless they are marked for pregnancy, regular ones might have some metal levels in it (hopefully low, but not advised in pregnancy at all)

I had no issues with pregnacare at all, it has also other good stuff.

im also taking choline, also good for baby brain and studies have shown majority of women don’t get enough, it’s also good for pregnancy brain fog and liver. I didn’t take this with my first pregnancy and I had the worse brain fog, couldn’t remember anything, especially late 3rd trimester. I also had high elevated liver enzymes at the end.

feeling much better now by taking it, no fog at all and my liver is good.
