subchorionic hematoma 20 week scan

Just had my 20 week scan - last scan was 16 weeks.
I’ve been told today I have a 3cm x 3cm subchorionic hematoma.
I have another scan booked in 3 weeks with a consultant to check on it. they have said I will have scans every few weeks now to keep an eye on it.
has anyone ever had this? Or currently has it?

Yes, I had one, discovered at around 11 weeks. I bled, on and off, until about 20 weeks. It just gradually reduced over time. I had a particularly bad day with bleeding at about 17 weeks and went to EPU for a scan to check on baby, obstetrician himself did the scan for me as they were short staffed, it turned into a very funny appointment as we both watched my daughter (i found out her gender then too) repeatedly booting the haemotoma with her little feet. So that's why I was bleeding more. 😂

She's sat in front of me stuffing toast and jam right now. 😀

I had one with my second son and started bleeding at 13 weeks, overnight stay at the hospital and they discovered mine was 6cm. I bled on and off until 18 weeks and it was completely resolved at my 20 week scan. I had to ask the Sonographer about it and she was like "what hematoma?" 🎉

My son is now 6 months old 🤗

I really reduced how much I was doing (not the easiest with a toddler and being pregnant) but avoided staying on my feet too long, no sex, lots of water and not lifting anything heavy.

Keep us posted but all will be ok 🥰

I had one with my DS, didnt even know about it until I had a massive bleed at around 18 weeks. I was hysterical ( my first baby died 2 hours after he was born and I'd had several miscarriages afterwards )

I bled on and off for around 3 weeks but everything was fine. Same as PP, no sex, no heavy lifting, plenty of rest. Ds was and is absolutely fine, he'll be celebrating his 6th birthday on Friday!

Try not to worry x

I couldn't rest when I had mine. I had a very very active 3yo with additional needs, and also had to organise a relocation and house move.

It was still fine.

Ok, hopefully all is well in 3 weeks when I go back.

I’ve been reading online it can start early labour etc so because it’s only been noticed and not picked up in any other scan I’m worried It’s new and will cause me problems!
