Hello, for those of you who self prescribed aspirin in pregnancy how long did you take it and what dosage did you have? Thankyou!

Hiya, I suppose I kinda self prescribed - an NHS gynaecologist recommended it after hearing my history (one MMC, PCOS, Thyroid).

I took 75mg a day from post ovulation and got pregnant that same month (probably coincidence but you never know 👀).
I have kept going. I am almost 14 weeks. Midwife's/scanners etc know I am on it and have no problem with me staying on it - apparently it is also helpful for preeclampsia later in pregnancy.

So I'm keeping on it for now but will check again with my midwife in Jan.

Obviously everyone different so please do speak to someone for a professional view!

Thanks 😊 congratulations on your pregnancy! I've heard lots of success stories about taking it but I have no idea when to stop

Hi @LavenderAndBluebells it wasn’t self prescribed, I was advised by a gynecologist consultant to start from week 14 up untill delivery. I was going for an elective c-section and was told to stop aspirin a few days before.

Dosage was 150mg a day. It used to be 75mg but it was changed 2 years ago I think. There are many threads here about aspirin you can read.

Hi @LavenderAndBluebells , I started on it from positive test based on recommendation from a private consultant I was seeing after a late miscarriage. He advised 150mg a day until 36 weeks.

I’m nearly 27 weeks now, so between using progesterone to 16 weeks and aspirin from the beginning it’s definitely made me feel more confident about this pregnancy if nothing else!

Thanks so much everyone
