Does anyone ever think another pregnancy would be 'tempting fate'???

Am not at all superstitious but this thought gets me every time. I've never been unfortunate to have suffered a mc, my children are all healthy, labours have been good, a few pg issues but nothing major.

Should i quit while I'm ahead??

Don't think there is a right or wrong answer but i know what you mean, as i was told couldnt have baby, then was preg told wouldnt be able to carry to full term and have.... desperate for another, but besides a few operaions etc..i feel lucky to have DS and have him well, i too feel that perhaps even trying for another would just be pushin my luck

HeadHeartorHormones · 30/01/2008 19:44

Yes - absolutely feel like that and am glad its not just me.

rozzyraspberry · 30/01/2008 19:49

Oh my god you sound exactly like me!! After 2 quick conceptions, no miscarriages, good pregnancies and births and 2 healthy boys I did really think I couldn't be so lucky third time round. I had myself so convinced that something was wrong that I cried when I saw there was actually a baby in there at my 12 week scan.

Due 9th Feb after my best pregnancy yet - just hoping birth is ok and lo is as healthy as his brothers.

Yes, I'm still tempting fate, since No. 4 is not yet safely out of me.
M/c wouldn't bother me, probably, funny people always mention that. But I've not had one, either, so I'm only guessing.

Still, baby 4 could have a terrible birth defect, or suffer trauma leading to disability during the birth, or simply be stillborn. And that's without thinking of the bad things that could happen to me during labour (due to occur sometime in next 2.5 weeks).

Then once they're out they could still develop problems, sorry to sound so negative, but some of us don't like to take anything for granted!

Luckily Sprog#4 has passed all screening tests I dared to do, but nothing is guaranteed...

Yes, especially as I'll be 37 in less than a month and recently suffered a missed M/C.

So yeah, quitting whilst we're ahead seems wise.

My last pg was though we didn't know it and it definitely would be if it was to happen now.

Chooster · 30/01/2008 20:27

Definately know what you mean. I have two boys and a stillbirth in between and just feel like I can't risk things again. Even with things like PND - I've never suffered from it and both my boys have been healthy. I'm not sure I'd be so lucky again and just dont want to chance it.

Yes, DH and I feel like that. Deep down I wouldn't be gutted if I fell pregnant but I just don't dare go for it.
I had an MC between my two children and I really don't want another and my children are fit and healthy with no issues on any scale really ... I feel that I should quit while I am ahead - and I will be 38 in March [sob]

I felt just the same but the hormones took over and I'm due in June

Totally agree with the op - and so glad there are others that think like this!

I have had 2 fab pregnancies, and we now have 2 wonderful healthy boys. Dh jokingly hints at no.3, but "tempting fate" is always in my mind, and I am so grateful to have my boys.
