Weight gain

Right...

Can I have some friendly advice... I hope this doesn't offend anyone/ trigger anyone who is super conscious about weight.

I'm all about eating healthy with a balance of not worrying too much. I have always exercised/ eaten right and am a size 10. I have suffered two very late losses in pregnancy, and over this time I have gained around 10 kgs pushing me to a 10/12. Which I'm not stressed about... but no one likes having to pick up the leggings every time instead of their fav jeans I'm sure!!

I am 31 and only 11 and a half weeks pregnant.... But every pregnancy it appears I gain so much weight in the first trimester, without even trying/ over eating!! And then struggle to lose it/ don't!

I know I am 30 now, and weight does hold more, and that's part of life. But has anyone else ever experienced this weight gain in first trimester? I know/ hope baby bump will grow and that'll be amazing.

It's making me a bit worried that I'll be big and it will make pregnancy more difficult! It seems like everything is just sticking to me.

X

It's quite common to gain weight then as you get further along lose some or remain the same. You could also gain more but honestly I wouldn't let it worry you so much it usually evens out.

@PinkButtercups

Hello,

Thank you, that's really helped.
I felt so stupid even writing this post, as I have had losses in the past and so, I should just be so grateful for being pregnant in the first place.

But I just feel so, fat and "bleurgh". And everyone close that knows keeps saying it's bump, and I haven't put weight on, but it isn't and I definitely have!
I am being silly, but just curious if others had felt the same. Maybe just bit self conscious.

Thank you so much for responding. Being a bit uncomfortable in my skin is well worth it, but isn't overly nice to feel all the time. No idea if I'm making any sense!!! X

Can you buy some clothes that fit better and then sell them later? My weight has fluctuated around kids and I always feel miles better when I have clothes that fit even if a few kgs heavier.

Ok so I weighed 9st 2lbs upon the pregnancy test.

Was 9st 10lbs at the booking appointment at 12 weeks and completely freaked out.

I steadily gained weight until baby came 8 days late and weighed bang on 11 stone. She weighed 8lb 5oz.

Weight fell off with breastfeeding, was 8st 4lbs around at the 3 month mark.

@Thelongwayround

Yes, I definitely think that's the right idea. Properly fitting clothes always help! X

Ah this sounds just like me then! I have properly had a little freak out, which is so silly because at the end of the day, women are creating life and that's amazing! And I wish I was more like "who cares", but I clearly do care a bit!

Thank you so much for sharing that has made me feel a tonne better and like, I'm not just going to get much bigger and never come back down again. I feel so ridiculous even writing that, but the world we live in is surrounded by content of petite pregnant women only popping out just a little bump, and evidently, this isn't going to be me (which is fine, really!).

Anyway, I'm going to stop being ridiculous, thank you again X

Sounds like me too! I’ve had 2 early losses this year and gained maybe 1-2kg each time and now I’m 9 weeks currently and have gained 6kg in the last 5 weeks. I’m usually a size 10 (albeit a heavier one with BMI around 24) and have definitely crept into a size 12 now and my BMI is definitely overweight. I am dreading my booking appt and also worried for weight gain impacting the pregnancy and delivery - totally unhelpful to you, but maybe it helps that there are others very much in the boat! X

@Texasholdem20

Ah I'm so sorry for you past experiences, so very sad 💖

Yes sounds like we are definitely in the same boat then! Which is a comfort. People say "just relax and eat what you want", but even though I'm only eating what I usually eat, it's just, piling on.

Fingers crossed for us both that this time everything is okay xx

I'm sure you'll even out or even lose some of it.
I've never really gained in my pregnancies but then again could afford not to tbh!

1st Pregnancy I actually lost weight (DS -Singleton)

This pregnancy I've gained about 4 pounds I think (twins 34 weeks today) but I have been put on metformin for GD in both pregnancies so makes me wonder if that's why I don't really put on weight.

Either way. You're going to feel uncomfortable and I hope you manage to feel more comfortable in your skin through out your pregnancy x
