Baby measuring 5 days behind at 6+5 - any hope?

I've just had a viability scan at 6+5 at my IVF clinic. They found a sac, yolk l, fetal poleand embryo but measuring 6+1 and no heartbeat. Dr also said the sac was 2cm too big which isn't a good sign. I have to go back in 2 weeks. In my last pregnancy which ended in MMC the embryo was measuring ahead and had a heartbeat by now. Probably a silly question but is there any hope of baby catching up? Has anyone experienced the same thing?

My son caught up a week BUT I knew that I ovulate a week late so that made up for the discrepancy. I'm not sure that would be applicable to an IVF pregnancy :/

Sorry, I didn't want to read and run. I hope you get good news :)

@TheBirdintheCave Thanks for replying, I'll just have to hope for the best.

I think it’s not uncommon for there to be no heartbeat at 6 weeks. Did the doc say the sac being bigger was bad news or is that from you? Definitely not time to despair if they haven’t said there is a problem are bringing you back for another scan.

The first couple of scans were just a sac for me with my successful IVF cycle. The precious blob is now a noisy toddler! Good luck.

The doc said an enlarged yolk sac is often a sign of chromosomal abnormalities/impending miscarriage. A normal one should be 6mm at most and mine was 7mm, so that combined with no heartbeat and measuring 5 days behind doesn't fill me with hope. Will just have to live in limbo for another 2 weeks. If this turns out badly will be my second miscarriage of the year.

I'm really sorry to hear this, op. I had a MMC then went through icsi. They do say with ivf they know the dates so it's unlikely to be wrong, but at the same time, the babies can suddenly have a growth spurt and catch up. I would prepare for the worst but hold on to a bit of hope. easier said than done, I know.
Hoping for good news for you in 2 weeks
