Hi everyone!

Hoping for some advice here because really freaked out!

I am 29 weeks pregnant and my last scan showed my placenta completely covering my cervix. I woke up this morning to a gush of blood and this thing that came out of me. Not much blood and no more active bleeding afterwards and baby moving perfectly fine, but what on earth is this?! Is it part of the placenta that was covering the cervix? Is it just a giant blood clot because I actually started bleeding in the night and it sorted itself out and that's the remains?

What do I do? After I cleaned up after that came out there has been no more bleeding and the baby has been moving completely as normal. Blood pressure and heart rate are also fine so I know I am not bleeding and its just not coming out.

HELP!

I would contact your midwife and explain and get yourself for a scan , just to be sure

I had bleeds like this when i suffered placenta privia you need to speak to either midwife or hospital

Namenic · 17/11/2022 11:03

Please contact the maternity unit now - to get checked up. Keep the blood clot that you have photographed to show them.

SavingKitten · 17/11/2022 11:04

You need to contact the hospital asap, no other answers on here can help you OP. Hopefully everything is fine

General consensus was to phone the midwives and get booked into the hospital so I have done that.

I was trying to avoid doing that as the maternity hospital near me is so rude and awful and didn't want to put myself (and my baby because they are so rough when examining) through that if people came back and were like "I've seen placentas and it looks nothing like that whatsoever most likely a blood clot".

This is my second time bleeding and the first time they were so rude to me asking why I was even there if I could still feel baby moving and active bleed stopped by the time the examined me internally 2hrs later and taking up one of their precious beds (procedure I learnt later is to keep a woman in 24hrs after the bleeding stops to ensure no further bigger bleed is going to happen)...

Unfortunately I did flush the thing photoed away after I took that one picture because I just wasn't thinking clearly...hopefully the pic will be of help tho...

Thanks for the advice guys

Could it be a hematoma? @Shanshoe

Herefishy · 17/11/2022 14:26

On a separate note @Shanshoe I would also either report your complaint regarding your treatment by the hospital to PALS. And/Or look to change hospital for your birth, you don't want to be giving birth in such a hostile environment if they've really treated you that poorly you deserve to be treated with respect and listened to!

With placenta previa the advice/warning is to go to the hospital immediately when you have any bleeding, a gush of blood and a massive clot should have you rushing out the door to do that. I literally sat into the car as soon as I got off the toilet when I had that. Did the staff who you said were rude last time realise you had placenta previa? It changes everything, as it can get dangerous very fast.

My goodness! Please tell me you are in maternity triage now being checked over OP!

C1umsyGiraffe · 19/11/2022 17:58

My goodness OP, that sounds really scary. Hope you're okay!
