Could I actually be pregnant if I had a period?

My period was due Sunday, usually it is light for a day or so then gets very heavy with a lot of pain. I started spotting Sunday as usual, things did get a bit heavier (enough for a tampon) but unusually no cramps. It’s stopped now. The other thing is, my boobs are still so sore even after it’s finished. Usually this goes away after my bleeding starts.

Is it actually possible to bleed whilst being pregnant? Would you test? It’s a 20 mile round trip to get a test!

I believe the chances are very slim but some people do continue to have a period throughout their pregnancy. If you think you might be pregnant and have symptoms different to your usual then I would say it is worth doing a test to no one way or the other.

You get implantation bleeding very early pregnancy but this is quite different to a period. Check Google for the difference. It is normally a small amount of light bleeding. It typically occurs about 10 to 14 days after conception.

I bled quite a bit at 5 weeks with my first, with some cramping and pain but was convinced it was a mc (my dd is now 15). My Mum also bled each month for the first couple of months whilst carrying my brother.

So yes, it can happen.
