Unfortunately, I developed a post dural puncture headache following a spinal sedation for an elective c section. I think it's quite rare for pdph after spinal sedation, but unlucky for me, it happened. They tried a blood patch after 48 hours but it wasn't sucessful (they couldn't inject enough blood). They did another blood patch at about 60 hours after the initial puncture. This time the procedure was done by the consultant anaesthetist and it worked. I was able to stand up and walk around again and thankfully I was able to be discharged.
I still have a headache but this is manageable with painkillers. The anaesthetists have offered a second blood patch (they aren't counting the first as an attempt as they couldn't complete the process). Has anyone been in this situation? Should I have the second procedure? It would be great to have no headache at all, but it's manageable for me now and after everything I am reluctant to have any further medical procedures. Would love to hear from those who had a second blood patch.
