at 27 weeks preg my dr said my fudal height was measuring 4 weeks behind so sent me to hospital straight away for a scan, they found that my baby's abdominal circumference is only on the 3rd centile and her estimated weight is at 10.6th on the centile. her head and femur measurements were slightly small but pretty much average, and doppler was ok. this size thing is really worrying me. my 7 year old son was born 7.2lb (average) so its not even the case that i carry small baby's as a rule. i eat well, maybe don't get enough rest due to work and i have been under some stress but the Dr's aren't telling me what this could be or giving me any strong advise as to what i could do to improve things... can anyone help or share similar experiences please...? would be much appreciated.

Chops- if I remember rightly was it you who had dopplers done... If not ask fror one. my first baby had IUGR.. intra uterine groth retardation.. at 28weeks she had the measurementsof a 21weeker.. She was born at 36weeks via csection (due to other problems in the pregnncy) weighing 2.2kg.. 4lb 14oz.

Are they going to keep an eye on you and babs for the rest fthe pg.. I would push for them to do so if you are not happy. As long as the placenta etc is working fine ad fluid levels are normal.. you could judt be having a small baby.

For what its worth my DD who had the IUGR is now the tallest person in the school..at 5ft4 at 11years old.

Hope this helps. Take care of yourself.xx

Had exactly the same thing, 3-4 weeks behind on fundal height, fortnightly growth scans showed baby on small side of normal. Scan at 38 weeks showed baby had stopped growing and they said he'd be between 5 and 6lbs. He was 7lbs. The scans are not always accurate.

Also ment to add that estmate on my last scan was 3lb7oz so she was a bit heavier than thought.. as in claires case..
