Water birth?

I would like to try a water birth (I am 37 weeks pregnant), and wondered if anyone else had any advice on this? I love my baths and this is when I feel the most relaxed, so thought it may be a good idea.

Looking forward to hearing what people have to say - thanks!

I aimed to have one, but it was too late by the time I got to the hospital! Good luck - I think it would be fab.

I wanted on too but with both boys there heartbeat didn't respond in the right way to the contractions so I'm hoping for better luck this time round.

I had one for two of my dds and would highly recommend them. I was allowed into the pool at the transition stage, and the warm water was the most fantastic pain relief. It all felt very comfortable and relaxed.

Having said all that, I was very lucky with straightforward and short labours, so I would say to plan to have one, but not to cling to the idea and be too upset if it doesn't work out.

Sorry if this is your fifth and I'm teaching granny to suck eggs

I'm really hoping for a water birth too. There's only one at our hospital tho so it's look of the draw. It's supposed to be sbdolutely lovely, everyone I know who's had one round here has loved it.

There will be someone with more guidance along soon.. as I asked a while ago and got millions of fantastic answers.

Good luck!!

I've wanted one each time (3 children) but never managed it. We even bought the seive

I'm hoping again this time - in June - as apparently it reduces the risk from Group B Strep so I have an extra incentive.

LOL at the sieve Rolf - that's the bit I remember from the hospital tour.

I had a birth pool at home for my second and it weas lovely. I actually got out to deliver him as the water temp was too low (grrr @ boiler) but it was sooooo nice being in there while I laboured.
would def do it again, and hopefully deliver in water too
