Feel absolutely awful today - headache, bunged up, dodgy tum, dizzy, sick.

Paranoid and prob stupid q but does it affect the baby too? I know I can't do anything about it but am sitting in work stressing about it.

Haven't taken anything but am seriously tempted by a lempsip. Would that be ok do you think as I know you can take paracetamol in labour [weak grin].

{skiingmummy waddles to loo feeling v sorry for herself}

don't think a cold/flu would be a problem per se, but best to take something like paracetamol if your temperature is going too high. i don't think there is any problem taking the odd paracetamol when PG.

Of course you can take paracetamol now, skiingmummy. You poor thing. Just steer clear of anything with Ibuprofen in it. And check what else is in Lemsip as some cold remedies pack an extra caffeine jolt to perk you up, and that may not be a good idea if you are already drinking tea and coffee as normal.
MummyToSteven is right, very occasionally an untreated high fever can cause prem labour, but I honestly don't think a dose of flu is a serious risk to you both. Other than feeling wretched. Take care.

skiing mummy, don't you deserve to be at home tucked up in bed and not at work?! Lemsip in bed with liberal naps throughout the day must surely be good for mother and baby!(ps: paracetamol is fine...)

tabitha · 01/12/2004 10:49

I think it would be very unlikely that your cold/flu would affect your baby. I had a rotten dose of flu when I was about 18 weeks pregnant with ds and he was absolutely fine. I would take plain paracetemol in preference to anything else and I would take myself home from work and get straight to bed
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks guys.
I've decided I am going home now. I can't focus on the screen properly anymore so am gonna go home, have a lempsip and go to bed. I don't know whether its very warm in the office or whether I am just getting a temp but thats def not helping.

Was trying not to be a wimp by coming into work today but had enough now.

Chat later hopefully (after ZZZs and pills )
