I have PCOS too, took me about a year to conceive. It's horrible, I really do sympathise. In the end I found 2 things helped - (1) I went to a nutritionist and made some big changes to my diet (mainly went on a low GI diet, cut out caffeine and sugary foods), and (2) I went on holiday at the right time... really helped to relax and made the trying far more enjoyable... it worked!

I did also have clomid for a while, but actually conceived after I'd finished taking it.

Hiya, i was trying to conceive after a miscarriage for almost 2 years. I was just like you - DESPERATE for a baby. My GP made a referal to the fertility clinic. We continued trying until i recieved the appt which was for 4th Jan 08. When i got the apt letter(OCT 07)i resigned myself to the fact i wasnt going to do it without help.
I Completely just gave up!!!!

I conceived in NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sonographer at my scan told me that when we are anxious and stressed about the subject our bodies clam up and can stop releasing eggs. As soon as we take the pressure off she reckons our eggs start flying out!!!!

So my advice is to give up!!!!!!
(without giving up)

Maybe thats why acupuncture helps peple so much, its very relaxing and targets pressure points etc. I think acupuncture is a very good idea to try.

GOOD LUCK XXXXXX

Hi Everyone, I was just reading all your comments and queries and thought that I might be able to shed some light on the acupuncture questions. I suffer from irregular cycles(45-90 odd days! and not pcos) and have started using acupuncture to try and relax and regulate my cycles more. Once they are a bit better and I am feeling good, we'll try clomid. I did a lot of research before starting and here's what I learnt:
There are two types of acupuncture - the Traditional method, and the 5 Elements method. The Traditional method was created during the chinese cultural revolution when Chairman Mao wanted everyone to be able to have treatment. It treats symptoms, so in a very basic explanation, if your hand hurts, they focus on your hand. When being treated with traditional method acupuncture, they will often couple it with chinese herbal teas and potions. Whilst this may all be useful, these potions, tonics and herbs are not properly regulated and unless you can read the chinese on the label, you can't be totally sure of what you're getting.
5 Elements Acupuncture is the ancient form of acupuncture that focuses on the whole body and it's wellbeing. So a good practitioner will address your whole wellbeing in order to assist in solving your problem. The result should be an improvement in your problem and making you feel better overall. The 5 Elements method will not ask you to buy potions and herbs to suppliment the treatment.
More importantly, medical research coming out in the medical journals only last year, has validated that 5 elements acupuncture has greatly assisted couples trying to conceive. I can't remember the whole report, but one figure stated that couples having IVF had a 66% better chance of conceiving when simultaneously haveing the acupuncture! Try googling it, there's more and more info out there now.
It's is also good for trying to regulate your cycles, and to help relax you regardless of which treatment you are on. I
I am hoping that it will help me regulate my cycle, but if I choose to take the clomid, I also hope it will help me stay relaxed and not suffer too badly from all the side effects.
zoeypoey44, good luck finding a way that suits you, I hope it gets you to your jackpot!
whomovedmychocolate, that CD also sounds like a good tool, I might look that up.
I hope we all have some success in the end!

I am 36 weeks pg with 2nd child. TTC for 4 years with m.c in between. tried fertility treatment ...iui and chlomid...didn't work. was having acupuncture during this time for over a year.

about a year before became pg, changed diet drastically as per 'inconceiveable' by Julia Inchicova!? (think thats her surname). stopped the acupuncture as felt that after over a year it wasn't going to work for me. Tried reflexology (loved it), fell pg naturally after 6 sessions. At the same time was also seeing a ? (person who deals with herbal remedies like bachs flower remedies etc, can't think of the word)). One of these worked for me and beleive it was the reflexology as found sessions very relaxing.

Basically, if you have unexplained infertility do some research, diet is a big thing to improve egg quality and if accupuncture doesn't work after say 6 months then try something else. Something will work for you.

best of luck

hi everyone, i read all your posts an just had to add mine.. i have one 7 yr old already which wasnt planned, but had been trying for 2 years to fall pregnant an it just wasnt workin i knew i had problems as i have pcos. so gp referred me to gyno an after all the usual tests an laparoscopy an removal of alot of cysts i was non ovulatory it was level 1. should be 30 to get pregnant. so plan was to start clomid. with the nhs the wait is upsetting for our next infertility clinic appt. especially when your desperate. nothing takes that feeling away!! so i started taking pregnacare conception as it contains alot of good vitamins an stuff, i thought what the heck im gonna try everything before clomid.. an i also went an saw a chinese doctor in my shoppin centre!! told him everything.. an he gave me chinese medicine, cost £35 a week for a weeks worth of dried herbs i had to boil up as tea..it tasted horrid.. i had 2 weeks worth an started feelin odd, major chocolate cravings an very bloated. i had somehow ovulated without knowing! 2 days before my clomid appointment i randomly done a pregnancy test as i used to do them every week 'just in case'!! lol an it came positive. chinese medicine an pregnacare conception made me ovulate for the 1st time in the 2 years ive been analysed for ovulating!! im now 13 weeks pregnant an i just want to say keep calm. do everything u can afford naturally i suggest acupuncture chinese med an pregnacare conception an never give up!! xx

im probably not the best person to answer this thred as i got preg easily after trying 1 month. but my mum was told she would never have children and after 6 years she had me naturally - i was desperate to have a baby and convinced this was going to happen to me cried at every negative test (yep i was doing them nearly every day) i was really obsessed an it was all i could think about - i cant begin to think how hard it must be to go through that for 3 years. i think i read every piece of advice and the best piece i saw was not to try to hard - aparantly you shouldnt do 'it' any more than every 2 days cus thats how long it takes for the blokes sperm to build healthly, any more frequent and the sperm wont be that strong. also u shouldnt go the other way and wait too long so it basicly said stop stressing and stop trying because the average couple does it 2-3 times a week anyway which is just about right. also eat healthly dont diet just make healthier choices. im convinced thats wot worked for me - good luck!! xx

So reassuring to read that there is hope out there!
I have suffered 2 miscarriages, and have the diagnosis of Endometriosis. My cycles vary from 35 days to 60 days.
The baby losses change your entire life, and you become consumed with longing for a baby!
We have been trying nor for a year since the last loss and no joy yet!
It was recommended that I try Agnus Castus (from the herbalist) and in honesty it is making a huge difference, to both my cycle and my wellbeing. Whilst the endometriosis still has a big effect on my day to day functioning it is becomming much less severe. I am told that it takes a good 4- 6 months before you see the benefit....I am hoping that things continue to improve. More than anything I hope that our baby dreams come true!

ginger821 · 12/05/2011 23:10

I know this post is bit late but I just though I add it anyway. I have been diagnosed with POCS, no ovulation, hormones all over the place and my periods not even worth mentioning.
We went for IVF in 2007 and sure enough fell pregnant having a healthy baby boy. Everybody kept telling me that after you had a baby your cycles would regulate and you have chances to concieve naturally..... well nearly 3 years later... nothing!!!! I decided to try a herbal coctail... nothing to lose so here I go. Primrose oil, Agnus castus and 'Well woman' vitamins.... 6 weeks later and we have fallen pregant. Unortunatelly we have lost our baby last week at around 7-8weeks....
The worst experiance of my life...however, I am now trying to think positive and the way how I see it is. This is the first time in my life I had a positve pregancy test!!! And the only thing I did different was my herbal coctail.
So I am back on it and confident more then ever that it will happen for us again!! I'd say you have nothing to lose so go for it.
