Pregnancy after laparoscopy success stories

Hello,

Unsure if this is the best place to post this.
I recently had a laparoscopy for endometriosis - I'm unsure of the severity but it was in my pouch of Douglas and I had a chocolate cyst removed.

I'm looking for success stories of natural conception after a laparoscopy please. I'm really worried this isn't going to be easy. Before my lap I was ttc for around 6 months.

Thank you ladies 🤞🏻🙏

Do you mean any laparoscopy or one for gyny issues? I had one in 2020 and fell pregnant first month of trying this year

Hi, I fell pregnant 4 months after my second laparoscopic. I have stage 4 endometriosis, my bladder and bowel were fused.
I now have 2 beautiful children. Wishing you all the best.

I fell pregnant the cycle after my lap in May this year. We had tried for 18 months before that with no luck. Maybe it was coincidence or maybe not…

I had a laparotomy which is more extensive and invasive than a laparoscopy and now have a very beautiful baby girl. Good luck Flowers

Yes it worked for me.

Hi @toastonjam

I had a laparoscopy for endometriosis in late 2019, it was also found in the Pouch of Douglas. I had also had a laparoscopy in 2008 for a large dermoid cyst on my right ovary.

I’m now 33 and 24 weeks pregnant having fallen pregnant naturally 😊 I realise it’s not easy for everyone but for me it didn’t cause any issues. I do have some extra pain around the scar tissue on my right ovary, but it’s no worse than before I was pregnant.

Best of luck OP ♥️

I can't quite remember it the timings but had been trying to get pregnant for 18 months. I had a laparoscopy and something else and they found severe endometriosis (I had no symptoms). Had laser treatment on it and fell pregnant the month after. I was 37. Had another baby 18 months later almost without trying...
Good luck!

Lots more success stories than I expected!

Gives me hope 🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏🙏

I've had 2 laparoscopies for endometriosis and am on my third pregnancy. The first two I conceived within 5 months and the second almost a year, but I was nearly 37 at that point so probably age was a big factor!

toastonjam · 12/11/2022 00:28

Thank you so much 😊 I'm so happy for all of you!

Out of interest - does anyone know when we can start ttc again after my surgery? I've not been told when is ok to try again.. x

Well I wasn’t ttc after my surgery but it pushed ovulation back from when I would normally ovulate in my cycle so I conceived even though I was actually trying to avoid it straight after my lap. Told the consultant at my 6 week check and he wasn’t worried. It’s not caused me any problems in my pregnancy. Good luck!

I had a laparoscopy in March this year. Two and a bit months later I started my first IVF cycle which was successful (which was super lucky!). We were keen to get going on IVF rather than keep waiting for natural conception. I was told we could resume ttc whenever I felt ready. I was a week late after the lap, so not sure if it delayed ovulation. Good luck!!!

Just wanted to add to this thread because I spent so long reading threads like this and looking for success stories! 😊

I had a laparoscopy for endometriosis after ttc for 2 years (following a mmc), period came 2 days after the surgery, and I conceived 2 weeks after that! I’m now snuggling my 5 month old baby girl 😊 if you’re reading this when ttc - don’t give up hope ❤️ it’s the hardest experience I’ve been through but it has all been worth it! ❤️

I spent hours reading threads like these before my laparoscopy for endometriosis, panicking and thinking that my dreams of having my own children were out of reach so I wanted to add my story to give some hope.

I had a very large endometrioma removed from one of my ovaries by a skilled surgeon and some little bits of endometriosis removed from the pelvic wall.

I conceived my baby one month after the surgery and was pregnant by the time I went for my post op appointment. My surgeon couldn’t have been more delighted. Even more so when my ultrasound showed that I had actually ovulated from the ovary I had the endometrioma excised from!
