Hi I'm 13 weeks and I've been getting shortness of breath since about week 6 or 7 maybe earlier I thought shortness of breath was something that happened later in pregnancy, I can't walk my dogs at my usual brisk pace because I have to keep stopping to catch My breath I'm kind of an impatient person so I like to do things quickly so I can have them over and done with and not play on My mind but I can't do anything quickly anymore because it leaves me red cheeked and out of breath anyone else having shortness of breath this early?

It could be a number of things, if i were you I would contact your GP for further investigation. I experienced shortness of breath from early pregnancy and have been diagnosed with adult onset asthma which until I became pregnant hadn't been apparent. Inhalers have improved it massively. It could also be anemia so you could request tour bloods are redone, although if you're 13 weeks have tou only recently had these checked?

I have this at 13wk, I know I have low iron which can contribute

Yes I had my bloods done recently I have alot of family members with asthma but I have never been affected? When I had my bloods done I also breathed into a breath thingy and the midwife Said it was very good and she was surprised how long my exhale was into the breath thing

I had this too, I was really surprised. It could be low blood pressure, have you had that checked? I'm 22 weeks now and I'm not as breathless as I was, it just kind of passed xx

This is pretty common in first trimester as your body is adjusting to new hormone levels. I think progesterone is the main cause of respiratory changes. And it can increase over time due to pressure on the diaphragm. Usually harmless but worth asking your midwife about if you’re worried 🤗

I have had shortness of breath from very early on. At my check-up it was explained as the rise of progesterone and that it is a normal symptom. However, if it is worrisome to you, do check it out. :)
