Has anyone ever experienced bad stomach pain after eating bacon whilst pregnant?
Admittedly I like my bacon very crispy resembling a frazzle😂 I had it with some avocado earlier and I’ve had bad stomach pain since?

Gall bladder pain?

Casketcurios · 09/11/2022 13:49

I’m not too sure… more epigastric. I mean it definitely wasn’t undercooked so I know it’s not food poisoning… unless it’s the avocado? But neither of those items are on the avoid, I’ve never had pain prior to pregnancy!

Are you sure it's the bacon?

How many weeks pregnant are you?

Casketcurios · 09/11/2022 13:52

It’s only happened since eating it! I’m 27weeks!

My bet would be the high fat in both bacon and avocado, could be gallbladder issues which are common in women of childbearing age especially if they have been pregnant before and changed weight a lot over the years

You've probably got trapped wind.

Casketcurios · 09/11/2022 13:58

Oh really? Definitely won’t be having it again that’s for sure, someone said that I could have been the bacon was to ‘burnt.’ But I have pretty much all my meat overdone and never have had a problem? But apparently that can affect the baby?

Definitely not trapped wind!xxx

It may be totally unrelated to the food, and just be your body stretching and moving with the baby, just coincidental that you noticed at the time of eating

My stomach acid went bonkers while pregnant, so anything high fat content was out as i got raging indigestion.

I could take gaviscon, but most over the counter stuff wasn't allowed during pregnancy.

workiskillingme · 09/11/2022 14:02

My gallbladder issues started in pregnancy
The pain was in the centre of my upper abdomen ever so slightly to the right

Doowop1919 · 09/11/2022 14:02

Unlikely to be the bacon. I had a fantastic crispy bacon sandwich for lunch yesterday.
Trapped wind can be agony when pregnant...my guess is that!

Casketcurios · 09/11/2022 14:05

That’s good to know, I’m grab some gaviscon from the pharmacy. My friend told me to be careful of crispy bacon or ‘burnt.’ Foods due to causing complications with baby but I’ve always ate overdone meat especially! So hoping it’s just some stomach acid…

Avocado can definitely give you stomach cramps. Could it be heartburn?

Casketcurios · 09/11/2022 14:07

I’ve never had heartburn, possibly?

I found fatty food and spice gave me awful heartburn all through third trimester. But crispy bacon isn’t going to cause complications with your baby OP. Stick to the list of foods to avoid on the NHS and ignore the old wives tales that people tell you.

Do you eat avocado regularly? I ask because I think I might have an intolerance or mild allergy to avocado. I'd never tried it in my life until weaning dc1. The first time I ate it I was fine. The second time I had it I ended up with horrendous stomach pain and nausea but I was pregnant with dc2 at the time and had really bad sickness so just put it down to pregnancy sickness. I've had it twice since then when I haven't been pregnant and had the same reaction, horrendous stomach pain to the point I can't stand up straight which begins about 20 mins or so after eating it and lasts for a few hours. I don't have this with any other foods so I don't think it's a gallbladder issue in my case. I also have no other intolerances or allergies. So it might be something to consider.
