If you DTD on ovulation day, are you having a boy or girl?

Just curious as I’ve read so many different things about boys being more likely to have been conceived on ovulation day. It was true for us last time. What are you having/what did you have?

I’m pretty sure 2 of my 4 were conceived on ovulation day; one is a boy and one is a girl.
with my boy, it can only have been that day as I was really unwell the week leading upto it so we didn’t DTD and with our DD I was away for 4 days before O day so would’ve been either 6 days before ovulation or the day of.

The theory is, the boy sperm is faster so if you did the deed on ovulation, chances are it will be a boy as the boy sperm gets there faster, but girl sperm live longer, so it all depends when the egg is released and what sperm is around etc

@NCFT0922 it’s all so interesting!

@Lorddenning1 yeah I’ve seen stuff about that, some people say it’s been proven to be wrong now but there do seem to be a lot of cases where it’s true 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had sex on ovulation day (no others for a week beforehand) and am (apparently!) having a girl.

RambamThankyouMam · 08/11/2022 22:27

Boy.

DTD 5 days before ovulation and got a girl.

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2022 22:37

I had my three children before ovulation tests were invented, but as my cycle was so predictable I'm as certain as I can be that they were all conceived on ovulation day as that's when we concentrated our efforts to conceive.

All three are boys. Go figure!

Boy on ovulation day girl 2 days before

BCxx · 08/11/2022 22:45

It definitely does seem like most on here tie in with that theory!

Girl on ovulation day.
Boy 3 days before.

BCxx · 08/11/2022 22:55

@Butterflytattoo that’s interesting.. the opposite of what the theories say!

Both on what we think was ovulation day and both girls

Gh12345 · 09/11/2022 05:43

Boy on ovulation day
girl 2 days before

Azandme · 09/11/2022 05:45

Mine was confirmed ovulation day (was having fertility treatment and was scanned that morning). Girl.

Azandme · 09/11/2022 05:46

Forgot to say, was scanned the preceding four days too.

Emily Oster has a section on this in her book Expecting Better. The stats don't agree, In fact they suggest the opposite (although not in a statistically significant way)

I agree with this, and it seemed to be true with both mine. One of each.

lifeinthehills · 09/11/2022 06:10

Girl on ovulation day, boy a day before. I can't be sure for the others.

RambamThankyouMam · 09/11/2022 07:10

Also, of the many lesbian couples I know who conceived by intra-uterine insemination on the day of ovulation, they ALL conceived boys. Without exception.

I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant and have been told we're expecting a boy. We would have conceived very close to ovulation. I've also read that our diets can have a slight impact on if we're more likely to conceive a boy or girl.
