No period, but negative test. Stressed!

I came off my contraceptive pill just under 2 months ago. I'm 25 and although not really 'trying' for a baby I'm not preventing it (had an abnormal smear followed by some treatment, worried that it could affect fertility so decided to come off pill).

Fast forward to now, my periods are usually like clockwork but I am now 8 days late. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests, but both negative.

Does anyone else have any idea why this would be happening? It's beginning to stress me out which probably isn't helping but I'm just baffled as it is not like my body at all!

Hey @oonrug for the first few months after you come off your pill you can have irregular periods.
I was on it for 5 years (super regular) and I was out by a few days when I came off.
I am currently pregnant and was testing positive 2 days before my missed period so it’s likely it’s your body finding it’s routine again.
I believe it’s super common so wouldn’t panic!

Yes, post pill irregular periods. They should settle. Your periods being regular on the pill doesn't mean anything, as the medicine was creating your cycle at that pt

Thank you both, that makes complete sense. I don't know why I didn't think about the pill being the cause as I've read a lot about that in the past it completely slipped my mind!

@firsttimelondonmummy and congratulations on the pregnancySmile

Thanks @oonrug sending to baby dust! ✨
Fyi I came off the pill in July and got pregnant in September so it can happen quickly!
I’ve had cervical treatment in the past too (I had a patch of my cervix cauterised a year ago)

@firsttimelondonmummy that is quickly, exciting times ahead though I bet you can't wait Smile I had LLETZ procedure in September, they said that one treatment shouldn't affect fertility but the more you have the shorter the cervix gets.

That scared me into going straight off the pill as you never know with these things , I'm only 25 but definitely want children in the future!
