Has anyone else's Other half changed since they've been pregnant?

My boyfriend is like a different person, I feel all he cares about is himself and how his life is going to change now

We both wanted a baby? My life has already changed I don't even recognise who I am anymore

Now he's suddenly getting cold feet and I feel so alone

Having read MN for a while now, I know that stories like yours are all too common.

All I can urge you to do is to proceed on the assumption that you'll be a single mother - be it in spirit or in reality, sooner or later. I'm not saying let him off the hook, but if you don't have any expectations, you won't be as disappointed or devastated as you might be otherwise.

So, go back to work full-time after maternity leave and nail down your contraception -
don't ever make yourself vulnerable. Too many stories here of women who are trapped because they have children with feckless men they are not married to, and unable to leave because they have neither income nor assets. .

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is better to be realistic and know the score - and plan accordingly.

We own a house together and baby was our next step. We both decided we wanted to try , it wasn't just one of us..

Seems crazy how a man can expect their life not to change..

I'm afraid this too is a common pattern...

Many, many men still think that children - and everything to do with looking after them - is women's work.

Men who think nothing of going to the gym every day and cycling all weekends, golf holidays 3 times a year and stag weekends abroad, out drinking with mates till all hours and useless the next day...
