Hi everyone,
Bit of background - I am 27 years old and have been with my partner who is 29 years old (now husband - married in 2019) for almost 12 years. We decided in the summer of this year (whilst on holiday!) it was the right time for us to settle down and start a family after adopting our lovely dog in 2020. Sure enough, we started TTC and fell pregnant at the end of July / August 2022 on our first cycle trying - baby was due in May 2023 on my Dad's birthday who had passed away from cancer in 2020.... I thought it was meant to be and we were over the moon! We had a scan at 7+1 and all was fine, we saw a strong heartbeat! We were on cloud 9.
We then had another scan at 11 weeks on 17 October where we heard the dreaded words "Sorry, there is no heartbeat". We are truly heartbroken. As this was a private scan, we were referred to the local hospitals EPAU where they scanned me another 4 (yes 4) times and I subsequently underwent a D&C the following Tuesday on 25 October.
The surgery went really well, no concerns and I have healed fine. I have taken a pregnancy test today and I cannot see a line so presume all the HCG in my body is now gone.
Myself and my husband are now back in the frame of mind that we really want to start trying again. We feel like the loss of our first baby has left a void, we do not want to replace what we have lost, but we are certain we want to become parents as quickly as possible.
My question is... has anyone else been through something similar and successful gone on to conceive a healthy baby before having their first AF / after on their first cycle?
Thank you all,
Katie x
