8 weeks pregnant - insatiable hunger

I am SO HUNGRY

I dread to think the amount of calories I'm consuming! I don't remember this from first time around.

I never feel full, I'm craving carbs and really salty tasty foods, I am eating constantly.

I've already gained 5kg and feel very bloated (at least I hope it's bloat and not fat?!)

I'm terrified for how big I'll be come next spring. Naturally slim size 8 normally.

Anyone got any ideas for snacks or meals that will keep me full and is this normal?

I had exactly this but from 4-6 weeks pregnant. I became obsessed with cheese toasties, cheesey mash and spaghetti hoops (and a lot of it!). I gained about 8lbs in 2 weeks but then as soon as 7 weeks hit, I felt too nauseous to eat anything at all for 10 weeks and ended up lighter than my pre pregnancy weight. Things are evening out now and the nausea is gone but I've only gained back 1lb in 2 weeks (back on the toasties but only small meals due to indigestion)

I wouldn't worry too much just yet 😊

Ha ha, this made me chuckle. Yes I'm going through the exact same. I've just made a post about it as I'm wondering if I'm carrying a boy, as first born female and I was completely the opposite to this.

I've bought seeds and nuts to snack on as I too don't want to pile a ton of weight on.

P.S I'm snacking to also curb nausea as it seems to help short term. In between snacks I feel dreadful 🤢

Hey @blueberry23 congratulations on your pregnancy! This is my first (2 previous early losses), I'm 7 weeks on Tuesday and CANNOT STOP EATING!!

I'm trying my hardest to fill up on healthy options, but to be honest I am just going with it for the moment. I may regret that approach when I've got stones to shift next year, but for now it is what it is... pass the snacks!

Oh @blueberry23 you are not alone! I'm 7+4 and STARVING- toast, soup, pasta are the current favourites! I haven't gained as much in the first trimester as I did last pregnancy, but I gained about half a stone in the first trimester last time. It did even out over the second and third.

Haha I’m so pleased there are others like this too!! In my first trimester I was the same! I’d gained a stone by 12 ish weeks!! But now I’m 16 weeks and the hunger has slowed down and I haven’t really gained anything since! So I think just do what your body feels and it will all even out eventually!

I felt exactly the same in the first trimester, even when I when I felt sick because I'd eaten too much I had to keep eating. It went back to normal in the second trimester then at around 36 weeks it started again. I'm telling myself it's the baby trying to put on some extra pounds before delivery.
