Hellooo, so second pregnancy kinda thought I’d be a dab hand this time round and already have most of what we need (first just approaching 3) but have just been told we are having twins!

Slightly overwhelmed , have realised our saved buggy will be useless , friend sent me a twin travelcot pic of amazon but no idea if it’s better to sleep together or separately. Have started googling pregnancy pillows as was huge last time so god knows what a twin bump will be like 😩

Probably just having a panicky day , but wondered if any advice on must haves or hacks to make life easier….

xx

No advice. But in the exact same situation. Surprise twins due next year. Panic. Thought I had everything already and adding one in would be relatively straightforward. Hope you don't mind me following along for any tips anyone has x

Hangrybump · 06/11/2022 16:28

Oh congratulations!!

But yes panic is outweighing excitement today ….. it just seems like it’s going to be a whole different ball game doesn’t it! And that’s before even thinking about car space and future bedrooms

Have one boy, if these turn out to be two girls then truly will be starting from
scratch 😩😂 x

I have twins!
twin girls, now aged 3! Born July 2019

Mine slept together while they were in mine and DHs room, we had this twin sleeper and although expensive, totally worth it! They slept it in for about six months at night, super easy to move around, storage too.

I also had two mamaroo rockers, that were again expensive (we had one from previous baby), used for over six months, travelled easily to relatives houses, they slept in them during the day, used them so much when they first came home. 100% worth it!

they were the two things that I couldn’t have lived without the first few months!

we had a baby jogger double buggy that was perfect and still have now, I bought a twin pillow when I was pregnant and then used with the girls too which also was a lifesaver.

other than stuff my top tips would be get them on a routine, but be flexible. it doesn’t always go to plan and sometimes life gets in the way, the babies will survive if their routine isn’t 100% the same every day.
if you can get a feeding routine about 10 minutes apart for each twin though, gives you time to feed one before the other one cries that theyre hungry!

twins are amazing! They are each other’s best friends and it has been such a privilege to have and watch them grow up together! Congratulations!

I have one yo twins and an older one. It’s fine - you get over the shock Grin. Join Twins Trust for advice/courses, get a second hand Out n About or Mountain Buggy, yes they can sleep together at first but will start disturbing each other at some point, take all the help you can get… think that’s all my advice in one! Easier than two individual babies in close succession imo. You just get on with it. And they entertain each other.

Oh wow thank you so much this is so helpful!! I did actually look at that buggy so nice to hear from someone whos actually used it 😁😁

Congratulations!

I'm in the same boat and I still don't think it's hit home yet! I have a 2.5yo girl and we are expecting twin boys in Feb.

We've got a new pram and extra carseat but other than that I'm actually trying to not buy anything else, we're hoping to cosleep them at least while they are in a next to me.

The biggest issue was having to buy a new car to fit all 3 of them in.

Bump wise, definitely get a pregnancy pillow and a heat pad, I feel so heavy and have already referred myself to a physio

I hope it's okay to be follow this thread for some helpful tips x

Exactly the same. Everything I own is boy! Hopefully I can repurpose some of it if they are girls. This thread is great though, it's already starting to make me feel slightly less panicky. Just slightly 😂

Hangrybump · 06/11/2022 18:49

Ahhhh congrats to you too!!
Yes our car is quite a little Astra so doubting if we’ll fit all three in

what pillow did you go for!
xx

Cars - check out the Multimac if you want to keep your current car. Otherwise there are at least 10 cars on the market where you can fit three across (my preference … the older one in the middle can fix bottles, pass snacks etc), and there are plenty of seven seaters with a third row.

As a pram alternative (if you want something smaller than the huge things mentioned above) you can get a thingy to attach two YoYo prams together, I think one in front of the other iirc. Each one folds to cabin bag size.

there are twin slings too.

Say if you have specific questions - I’m not exactly a fount of wisdom but I’ve done it recently with three under five.
