It kind of hurts down the edges of my tongue then these white patcher appear. I’m 40 weeks pregnant today but have had these appear over the past few weeks. Any idea what it is?

My mum had this years ago, it wasn't to do with pregnancy though. She ended up having to get a biopsy done on her tongue, and it turned our to be some sort of deficiency. They gave her an asthma inhaler and she had to puff it directly on her tongue. It went away after a while but it was odd!

I just asked her, she said it was caused by anaemia!

Looks like geographic tongue.

@Daisychainsx I’m on iron tablets for low iron at the moment.

I think B12 deficiency can cause this?

Def needs a GP to see it!

@WooWooWinnie funny as I’ve been a bit addicted during my pregnancy to fizzy drinks and spicy foods. I’ve eaten a lot of chilli crackers and chilli dips and jams. They make my tongue sore and then the next day these red patches with the white outline appears. I’ve only had this during pregnancy.

Vitamin deficiency.

It's geographic tongue. I've had it for years and it's an autoimmune thing, nothing to do with vitamins. It's irritating but harmless
