Pregnancy and inositol supplements

Hi all, I got my BFP last week and am
currently 4 weeks, 4 days! 💕

I’ve been taking inositol from my-ova since April and it really sorted out my cycles which were being affected by PCOS. I don’t know however if I can keep on taking it, it has the below -

myo-inositol 4000mg
Chromium
Folate

I think inositol is fine and actually good at cutting down risks associated with pcos and pregnancy, but not sure on the chromium 🤷‍♀️

I’ll be calling my midwife services tomorrow so will double check then too!

Hi, I was taking the exact same thing for PCOS and have kept taking it (11 weeks today). I did a bit of reading and inositol is ok, and some research (not conclusive!) that it can help with miscarriage. Folate obv ok.

I too couldn't get a clear answer on chromium, but I think its such low levels it's ok.

I have had a previous MMC so I wanted to keep taking it but if you get any info from your midwife please do share! I forgot to ask mine...

Congrats on you BFP!

Thanks @MO22 really appreciate it! And congratulations!

That’s what I’ve been thinking, it’s helped me so much I don’t want to just stop! I’ll let you know if I hear otherwise 💕

I took inositol until the start of the second trimester. Figured if taking it helped me get pregnant, it was unlikely to harm a foetus. Once out the first trimester I didn't think it would make any difference to outcome, so stopped taking it once I ran out.

No idea about chromium, but folate can only be a good thing.

Thanks @Dyra I think I’ll take some Holland and Barrett ones I have that are just inositol until I can check about the chromium along with my pregnancy multi vitamin 😌

Spoke to my midwife yesterday and she couldn’t really give me an answer on this, just said that my pregnancy multi vitamin would be fine, and that not to worry as hormone levels are totally different now I’m pregnant. However I got a similar response to inositol when I asked a GP about it and then it totally transformed by cycles and helped me get pregnant….soooo…

Anyway, I’ve moved onto pregnacare max as it has 100mg inositol and then I don’t have to worry about the chromium as I can’t get a straight answer on it! 🤷‍♀️

@MO22 was it the My Ova brand you’ve carried on taking? Xxx

Actually, scrap that, I’ve found this pregnancy supplement HERE which contains 40mcg of chromium so would seem it’s fine and can help with glucose levels, so I can stop frantically googling now!

Hope this helps anyone looking in future! 💕

Hiya @thelma57 yep I am still taking my ova. I actually don't take a all in one pregnancy supplement, I take vit d, folate and my ova so wasn't worried about too much chromium in the end after some frantic googling too!

Hope your pregnancy is progressing nicely!

thank you@thelma57 i am also taking myOva. I'm 18 weeks and taking it in the hope it will help me not get gestational diabetes as we are higher risk with PCOS. That's good to know about the chromium!

Congrats on your pregnancy!

thelma57 · 13/11/2022 08:45

@ancienthouse and congratulations on yours! Could I check, are you still taking the full 4 tablets a day? Xx

@thelma57 I take 4 when I remember but it's usually just 2 with breakfast!

I did read one study that said inositol was helpful during pregnancy for stabilising blood glucose so I hope they're doing something.

thelma57 · 13/11/2022 10:36

@ancienthouse thanks so much, I’ve been taking 2 rather than my normal 4 so may do the same!

I read this too, and they were such a god send to me I want them to keep working their magic!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and congratulations again! 💕
