Movements. 22 weeks?

Hi everyone. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and feel a lot of movement with baby. A lot in the mornings. However I've woken up today (been up since about 8am) so a good few hours and I've just been resting in bed. (Sunday lay in) and I've felt nothing at all. Is it too early to call and raise the alarm???? Or should I wait a few more hours and see what happens. I'm high risk so pretty anxious about this pregnancy. Any help appreciated. Thank you

Phone the hospital. Please don't wait. If your baby is alright it isn't a problem. Better safe than sorry. Good luck.

Just worried about wasting time. When it's only been a few hours. Don't know if I'm over obsessing.

Had an exact situation like yours today! My girl was being very sleepy I guess... I called up MW and went in for a full antenatal checkup ( I am still 25w) . Everything ok, baby woke up as soon as I ate 😄

By calling MW for reduced FM, you aren't wasting anyone's time.. it's a must if you are concerned with your baby's movements. They would be more than happy to have a check on you and the baby.. it's better to be safe than sorry! Take care and all the best for the future xx

chocolateandtea123 · 06/11/2022 16:38

Glad to hear your babe is doing okay. If I have any more instances of reduced movement I will be calling straight away. Thank you!

Hi I'm nearly 25 weeks.

I was worried for a few days but it wasn't like he wasn't moving just wasn't kicking as much. I realized yesterday he changed pattern again to evening and the during the night. Because I was up early hours of morning he was kicking and moving. But sometimes they have lazy days but if it was two days or more and nothing I would say call midwife or Maternity assessment.

I was just sat next to my DP nothing got into bed he kicked. I am feeling movements.

I do think we expect a lot but we need to remember they are small still and their pattern change your getting bigger. Kicks change. Like I feel low kicks, middle kick upper kicks now.

Some movement better than nothing too.

chocolateandtea123 · 06/11/2022 21:05

Yes I guess I am pretty lucky to be feeling so much movement so early on to be honest

I felt from 17 weeks and would have days nothing. But they said it's to early still.
I remember before each scan baby was quiet. I use to be scared at scan but all fine.
I had a pattern where baby would kick early morning say 6am if I was up having tea and biscuits. Then from 9-3 nothing. Although would felt him moving side to side. After that felt the kicks, movements.
It's changed now again the pattern.

Try not to worry too much but yes probably best to call midwife/triage if nothing.

Have a goodnight

@chocolateandtea123

I wanted to share with you my hospital appointment today.
I had to go for rainbow scan baby is doing well.

I spoke about movements/ kicks and the lady told me that I am lucky to be feeling movements at this stage. I am 24+6 so she said from 26 weeks but don't worry.

What she also said don't concentrate too much on the movement or patterns. As look as you feel the baby movements/kicks here and there.

Don't expect the same each day. I was told to relax as my partner how I am.

In my case this why I haven't just rushed to Maternity assessment. Because he does move and he does kicks. I suppose if no movements/kicks for maybe two day I think you should check with midwife or contact maternity assessment.

She said also you have another child I said yes. She said that child doesn't always do what you want them to do. I said no and she said baby will be the same.

I do think babies move and change patterns when they feel like. O

I am fed up of constantly worrying but I am glad I have no called up listened to my instincts to wait and see. Yesterday evening he was quiet normally active but this morning he kicking/ moving.

Everyone is different but hope it helps to reassure you a little bit.

Thank you for sharing. I've been feeling really anxious about movements today so this has put my mind at rest sooo much. I forget how small they really are at 22 weeks.

@chocolateandtea123

If you are really concerned do call Midwife/maternity assessment.

I been badly anxious this whole pregnancy so wanted to share what was said today about the movement/kicks.

Baby could be having a lazy day.

chocolateandtea123 · 09/11/2022 16:33

Im feeling really worried today is I've not felt baby move much at all. I'm so worried.

@chocolateandtea123

But have you felt your baby just a little bit?

Sometimes they do go very quiet but please do call midwife or maternity assessment.

Daisychainsx · 09/11/2022 19:54

They won't mind if you call and go in, I thought it had reduced movements at 22 or 23 weeks... I called and they said come on in. Within 20 minutes I'd seen a midwife and a doctor, heard the heartbeat and had a scan.

Of course as soon as I lay down on the bed and the midwife put the probe on he booted her hand with so much force she was like 'wow!' 🙈

The scan showed a very wriggly baby, but he had just moved so he was kicking into nothing really! They said they're still so tiny at that age that they can can move and not be felt as much. The doctor said 'if it happens again, lie on your left hand size and drink something fizzy. If after an hour you haven't felt anything come back in!'

If you're unsure just go in. Don't worry when you could have it sorted with a quick visit!

chocolateandtea123 · 09/11/2022 20:37

Yes I've felt baby move a few times but he doesn't feel as active as usual

chocolateandtea123 · 10/11/2022 21:25

I felt baby a couple of times today. But I'm laying in bed and he's just so quiet. I don't have any childcare now but tomorrow morning I'm going to go to triage. Very concerned

If you’re concerned then phone definitely, but I didn’t feel mine regularly until about 28 weeks. And definitely not at 22/23 weeks. As long as you feel them everyday at your early stage I wouldn’t stress too much but if it’s causing you anxiety then definitely phone in. I’m 36+2 now and trust me when I say i was really concerned at your stage, that she wasn’t active a lot/that she’d not moved for hours/that I’d never be able to notice a pattern etc but they’re still so tiny at that stage.

Im so anxious about it. Normally after drinking a cold drink or when I get into bed I feel him. But nothing tonight Sad I can't go triage tonight as my daughter is asleep and my partner is at work right now. So no transport or childcare. I'm going to go after I drop her to school in the morning. I just hope he's okay.Sad

I was the same always worrying when he goes quiet.. but his pattern changed even position why I think he was quiet.

Plus drinking cold water wasn't making him move too.
So horrible when they go quiet.

But please go get checked out. I hope everything okay.

drV · 10/11/2022 23:00

@chocolateandtea123 I am so sorry you are going through such an anxiety.. hope everything is well with the baby! How many weeks are you now OP?

dontbringthatbirdinhere · 10/11/2022 23:21

I have read that fizzy drink doesn't really help but clapping next to the bump can wake them up and get them moving. Maybe try this OP?

chocolateandtea123 · 10/11/2022 23:55

He's had a little move in bed. I'm 22 weeks + 2 today. I'm going to try to stop paying too much attention to the pattern so early. I am feeling him everyday. I know I'm so early still

OP posts:
drV · 11/11/2022 04:14

@chocolateandtea123 you are right; at 22+2, he's still quite tiny to feel every movement.. I would be worried if it was me in your situation, as I am 4 weeks ahead of you, currently 26w. But as the dictum goes, if you are really really worried about it, better call your midwife 🤷 you need to enjoy your pregnancy, not spend every moment of it in anxiety.. specially when you still have the energy to do so... I can really say my energy levels are dipping already, I feel like I need somebody to hold my belly up🤣

Quiegal · 11/11/2022 06:17

@chocolateandtea123

I just wrote a long post and lost it 😬

I been anxious from before 12 weeks. When I had this awful cramping but EPU wouldn't see me as I wasn't bleeding.

Then from 17 weeks starting feeling movements and noticed after 3 in afternoon he start moving. Then was convinced he only did this a crazy as it sounds when DP was around. My DP had to go look after his nieces and he was so quiet when he was away. I am sure I felt odd movement and like days it be hardly anything it freaked me out. When I went to join my DP for weekend I told him he quiet and I was worried then started feeling movements around him again. It was crazy then come home left DP there and just nothing much.
I think this was before our 20 weeks again was worried that day but all was fine. We found out we having a boy. Since then I calmed down as movements and kicks were regular and started with the pattern. Up with me kicking 6am 9-3 sleeping and from then kicking and moving. Then recently before another scan he change again to only evening and now have no idea of his pattern.

Plus at one point I layed in bed was very freaked out and it may have been before or just after 20 weeks saw a lump sticking out my stomach. It was strange and started feeling him know down too. Thought something was wrong but all was fine.
Because my reassurance is in his kicking. As movements I can tell if he laying left or right when touching my stomach.
More recently sat on end of my bed freaked out again. Top of belly went into egg shape.
But I didn't phone midwife asked online and he still was kicking.
At midwife appointment Tuesday mentioned to midwife she didn't seem to worry and heard his heartbeat this time.

I totally get your anxiety. This why I given your more details to help you. My midwife said if I don't feel him 3 hrs to get checked out but tbh sometimes I have such a bad belly ache I can't feel him much. 3 hrs 9-3 he sleeps and I may feel movements so I try not worry.
I will monitor him closely from 26 weeks and if I do feel he not moved or kicked will call triage or go maternity.

I swear my baby boy playing me already. Really scaring me. The minute I am about worried he like kicks

Sorry for long post.
