Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone can help clarify something for me!

when you go for your 12 week dating scan, are you actually 10 weeks pregnant? I’m just wondering so I can feel comfortable about telling people. I think that’s correct from what I’ve read as they add two weeks on?

Yes, you will technically only have been pregnant for 10 weeks, but you will be 12 weeks from the start of your last period.

There's nothing magic about 12 weeks that means you can start telling people.

As a PP has said, you'll be 12 weeks dating from your last period, but will have conceived 10 weeks ago.

Technically you’ll have been pregnant for 10 weeks. But you will be 12 weeks pregnant.
In my first pregnancy we shared at 11 weeks (just before Christmas).
In this pregnancy we are telling most people this week (8 weeks). Because I’m absolutely shattered.
Agree with PP that 12 weeks isn’t a magic number. Lots of people wait until after 20 week scan. You do you.
