Congratulations! It wouldn't be for me, but hopefully it is a lovely surprise for you and you can make it work

geraniumsandsunshine · 04/11/2022 21:06

Duh, just read properly and saw you've been trying!!

Had my DD when I was 43. Was worried about age gap as DS was 8 when DD born. Has all worked out much better than I imagined…although I am knackered !! DD now 6 years old and it is lovely to still have a little one as well as the teenager. Good luck!

I had DS2 at 42. A big surprise but truly a heaven sent little boy. He’s 8 now, the youngest of my 3, and the icing on the life cake!
Congratulations OP! Here’s to a happy and healthy pregnancy.

BiscuitLover3678 · 04/11/2022 21:17

I’ve known people do it. All worked out well :)

Ingrainedagainstthegrain · 04/11/2022 21:17

Of course it's not.

JamesCordonsStolenJokes · 04/11/2022 21:19

Congratulations and hope all works smoothly for you all
It is on the older side but so many women are having their babies later so you will be in good company.

I had DC4 at 42, they are 9 now, older DC were 14, 13 & 11, I was trying for a baby as 2nd marriage and DH had none. Very much wanted and lovely child. They keep me young.

DancingLedgend · 04/11/2022 21:22

I had 3rd at 43: easiest pregnancy, easiest birth.
You'll be fine.

Runnerduck34 · 04/11/2022 21:24

Congratulations! Mother nature has decided for you that you are not too old!
I know people who have had DC at your age and its all worked out well.
I understand your concerns about age gap and being an older mum but honestly you will be fine.
Good luck.

Helbelle75 · 04/11/2022 21:24

Congratulations! I had my second Dd 2 weeks before my 45th birthday. Healthy pregnancy and perfect baby girl. Plenty of us older mums out there.

Jaaxe · 04/11/2022 21:38

More and more women are having children in their 40’s now, it’s very much a personal decision, not for me but you’ve been trying so it’s great news for you! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy x

Thanks for all your positive messages and feedback’ I had given up years ago as was convinced was going through early menopause and periods were all over the place!

Wouldn’t have done it myself……far too later in the day for me….but I’m sure it will all be fine

feistymumma · 04/11/2022 22:08

Congratulations!!! No, not too old at all. I'm 46 expecting baby number 5 in three weeks, had baby number 4 last July. The other three are 24, 17.5 and 13.

thejadefish · 04/11/2022 22:57

Congratulations! I had DC2 in July at age 45 having tried for years/given up hope. If you want this go for it, you're not too old! I worried about my age too (more so given that I'm even older) but a) as it was natural I figured in some way that I can't even explain to myself meant that no I wasn't too old and b) when I mentioned it to my midwife not only did she not bat an eyelid, she said that I was actually in her average age group, it's much more common now. Enjoy, it's wonderful!
