Swindon or Gloucester Hospital for birth?

Appreciate this is quite specific but does anyone have experience of either Gloucester or Swindon maternity hospitals?

I have the choice of giving birth in either but am relatively new to the area so don't have local friends or family to ask.

I am hoping to have an elective C section if that makes any difference.

Really appreciate if anyone is able to give me an informed steer.

Thanks!

I had my two youngest DC's in Swindon and had c sections for both.

Amazing experience and I was going home the next day with both.

I can highly recommend GWH. Good luck!

I started off in Cheltenham and had to be blue lighted to Gloucester, the whole team there were amazing!

Heya @WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay I have the same questions tbh! Can choose Swindon, Gloucestershire/Cheltenham or Oxford and at the moment have earmarked Swindon as it's closest distance wise. I also looked a bit at recent reports, 'customer' feedback and the facilities they have and thought Swindon actually came out best. I think Gloucestershire hit major staffing issues earlier this year and had to close some of their units and send new mums home as soon as possible which put me off a bit.

When are you due? I don't have many friends in the local area and certainly none that have given birth recently. I'm planning on signing up to NCT just to meet other mums to be more than anything!

Gloucester is one of my options. It’s larger than my local hospital but their CQC rating for maternity is rated as “inadequate” (rated in July this year). My local is rated a bit better at “requires improvement” so the plan is to go there. I also know someone who had a horrendous 60hour labour in Glos a few months ago and baby needed intensive care. Her consultant apologised and admitted they should have done the emergency c-section earlier.

2 planned CS at GWH. Both excellent, efficient and was out after 1 night, although could have opted to stay if I’d have liked. I do think if all options are roughly equivalent, then going to the nearest is a good idea.

I've had two c sections at GWH, was very happy with the care I received
