Echogenic bowel scare

Dear Mums, I am looking for some experiences and help regarding the recent anomaly scan I had. This is my third baby and i suffer from severe anxiety because of the previous miscarriage I had before the birth of my DD (2 years old). My DS is 5 years old. The sonographer who did the scan suspected an echogenic bowel in baby however she kept reassuring me that 99% sure that this is nothing as the baby doesnt have any other abnormalities and initial blood screening at 12 weeks came back low risk. She said she is going to refer me to the Fetal medical unit consultant in the same hospital and get her opinion. We were sent home and in 3 hours I got a call from the hospital saying that the consultant has said that in her point of view the bowel is not echogenic and is normal. Therefore no further tests or scans needed. I was relaxed when they said that however my anxiety did not spare me

I kept thinking why the sonographer suspected a bright spot and not the consultant. I wrote an email explaining my concerns to the consultant directly and she said to put my mind at rest she will do that scan by herself this monday and go through the baby's organs.

Instead of me being happy about this, my mind is so worked up and thinking why she wants to scan me again. Is she not sure and wants to double check if what she said is right or what is it ...i am nervous, panicking and constantly worrying on what this scan would bring up

I am not sure where to go and share this. My questions are has anyone gone through a similar experience when the sonographer suspected something and the consultant has cleared that off saying nothing to worry and ended up having healthy babies?

Any positive experiences will greatly help me. Please talk to me and help

I have attached the report in which the suspected echogenic bowel was written and the comments written by the consultant

I'm not an expert in scans but I totally understand anxiety and I can 100% tell you this is your anxious brain talking.

The reason she has offered to scan you is because she is being nice and wants you to feel reassured. She could sense from your email how worried you are and wants to do the scan to put your mind at rest.

She is definitely not worried- if she had her own suspicions she would tell you.

Please try your best to relax and look forward to the scan because it will stop you from worrying.

@Holly60 thank you Holly for replying, mumsnet has always been a place for me to express my worries...my friends and DH thinks I worry unnecessarily however I cant control how i feel isnt?...i was not like this before having a mc in 2019. The news about baby not having heart beat on the 12 week scan was a shock. Me and my husband felt like we had an unexpected car accident. The impact of that shock is still there. That has elevated my scan anxieties. This baby is so much wanted and I really have everything crossed for the health of the baby. Your words are really reassuring and thanks for talking to me :)
