I have had depression and anxiety on and off in the past and twice been on medication which worked really well for me.

I was feeling really well in myself, on no medication a year ago. I started TTC and have experienced two miscarriages since then. One was really traumatic.

Im now experiencing quite bad anxiety and moderate depression. It's been going on for months now and doesn't really improve despite seeing a psychologist and making lifestyle changes (gave up coffee, social media, started Pilates etc).

My doctor is willing to give me Lexipro even though I am TTC.

I don't know if it is my anxiety but i am terrified that if I take it, my baby will have a health condition one day and I will blame myself for taking drugs while pregnant.

If you have taken Lexipro or similar during pregnancy - please tell me if it worked for you and your child and help me believe it's going to be ok.

Citalopram and sertraline are more commonly given for use in pregnancy, and it's generally accepted that the risk of a depressed/anxious mother outweighs the theoretical risk of side effects to baby.
I'm currently pregnant for the second time on citalopram and haven't really given it much headspace.

@fearfeardiarrhoea thanks so much that's very reassuring.

If it's ok to ask, is your first child healthy with no problems?

I know it's probably just my (untreated!) anxiety making me think the world will end if I take them

My daughter was born with meningitis but I can promise you NONE of it was due to citalopram.

I wouldn't obsess and focus on one particular possible theoretical cause of a problem in pregnancy- pregnancy is unfortunately riddled with things that can (but usually don't) go wrong and the chances of it being an antidepressant that caused it are just not very high.
