When do I tell work

Hi, I currently work in a warehouse for Gousto. My job is 12 hours long, I'm on my feet all day and I can also be lifting/moving heavy totes.

I am now 8 weeks pregnant, when should I tell work?
I feel some of my duties are killing me. Is it currently to early? Thank you

I would try to make it until after the 12 week scan. I only say this as my last pregnancy I told work at 8 weeks and then miscarried at 10 weeks. I wish I didn't have to deal with it.

You could always ask the GP to sign you off on something that's not pregnancy related until you're comfortable telling them?

I wouldn't 'officially' tell work but if you have a good relationship with your Manager let them know. Just ask the Manager to say to other colleagues you have an injury. I didn't let my work know until i was 16 weeks, but my job didn't pose any risk.

As a HSE advisor I would advise telling your manager due to heavy lifting etc they can complete a risk assessment and change your duties to suit

I think because of the nature of work that you do you should tell them as they will then risk assess your duties to protect you and the baby.

I wouldn't officially put it in writing to them until you're 12 weeks but if your job requires you to do heavy lifting then I'd have a word with your manager privately and as pp said get them to tell colleagues you have an injury and can't lift.
