Is being sick every half an hour equivalent to not keeping any fluids down? Or will some be staying down?

Nasty bout of norovirus or something similar, my midwife has told me to come in for a drip if I can't keep any fluids down. I'm being sick around every half hour, having lots of little sips of water but it is around every 30 mins I throw up again. Is that the equivalent of not keeping fluids down? Or is that just if they come straight back up?

I would class that as not keeping fluids down (as you are simply puking them back up within 30 mins)
